Still venturing through my archives its about time to get my camera out again.

Man is an adventurous animal

One of my attempts at the "Looking Close... on Friday" theme "Flowers and/or Buds".

Shot with a Nikon "LS-3510AF 50 mm F 3.5" (scanner) lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Young Raccoon out in the early daylight hours - presumably on his way to a spot to sleep the day away, De Pere, Wisconsin USA

While I was looking over the wetlands on the bridge over the creek, this hawk landed on the far end - not 7 meters from me. Stood for a bit, then took off. Near Beaverton, Oregon.

Not sure what happened to Polar Venture I...hehe. This shot lacks a lot of 'WoW' factor, but the scene just appealed to me.

This young least bittern was just beginning to feel his wings and to venture away from the security of his nest and home . It is such fun to watch how new and exciting everything is to them and to watch as they tentatively move out further and further.

Wishing you a great and blessed Thursday !!!!

Australian Magpies are common and conspicuous birds. Groups of up to 24 birds live year round in territories that are actively defended by all group members.

Australian Magpies are found wherever there is a combination of trees and adjacent open areas, including parks and playing fields. They are absent only from the densest forests and arid deserts.

The Australian Magpie walks along the ground searching for insects and their larvae. Birds will also take handouts from humans and will often venture into open houses to beg for food.

Photographed Maleny, Qld, Australia.

My very first attempt at using the Blackdragon viewer.

This was my first venture into Narrowband that I uploaded in September. I have been running through further tutorials from Kayron Mercieca. Steep learning curve but a great improvement.

This is a standard Hubble Palette.

Taken with my TS 65QAPO telescope, filter wheel, LRGB filters and Atik 490ex. Guiding was 90x50 finder with QHY5IIL. Software used was Artemis capture, PHD guiding, Pixinsight and Photoshop.

When I checked on our little hummingbird nest in our back yard, I noticed one of them was outside the nest. Then about an hour later, I noticed it was back in the nest. Flight (albeit short) is the only possible explanation. Hummingbirds can't walk and they certainly couldn't have stepped over the lip of the nest. I keep checking back. I'd love to see them actually take flight.

I'm not fit enough to venture out and search for the birds in nature yet, so I'm searching in my archives instead.

Grey Fantail

(Rhipidura albiscapa)

Ventured down the coast for a few days this week, Dovercourt is a grand total of 24 miles from home and I think that's as far as we're going to get this year in terms of a summer holiday!

The traditional view of the Low Lighthouse is normally a sunrise shot with it being on the East coast but it also makes an interesting subject during the day. We've had a few very hot sunny days here this week- it was all blue hazy skies so not a lot in the way of photographic opportunities, but it was lovely to see people enjoying the beach and cooling off in the sea. I love the sparkles on the sea on a bright sunny day.

(I THINK I got permission from the pretty girl in the pink swimsuit to photograph them. I was some distance away but we had a vague waving/pointing at the camera/distant thumbs up kind of exchange. I was pleased to see when I zoomed in she is looking straight at me and smiling :) )

Happy Weekend everyone!

I ventured under the storage loft today and found this necklace in a bag of rusty tools. I also found the Joe Lansdale book I thought I lost, but that's another story.

My friend Mary and I made these necklaces (hers said "What's up bitch") after seeing "Clerks" and they were a big hit down at the bar.

Shows you what kind of crowd I run with.

Anyway, I haven't seen Mary in many, many years and I wonder if she still has her necklace.

To take the words from the well-known traditional Scottish song "O ye'll take the high road, and I'll take the low road" and I certainly would take the low road for that path whilst looking well used also looks rather too precarious for me to venture on although someone has faith in it's safety. Seen at Saltburn by the Sea earlier this year.
