Leftovers dinner in the making - I just threw together a bunch of veggies (diced potatoes with the skin left on, broccoli florets, carrots sticks, snap peas, petit pois, sweetcorn, cherry tomatoes), some sunflower seeds, a little olive oil, salt and rosemary from my balcony. Baked for 30-40 mins. Yummy!
2021 Week 44 Trevor Carpenter Photo Challenge: Fruits & Veggies a la Edward Weston
There I was at the supermarket, as I imagine most of you fellow Challenge participants were, poking through the fruit and vegetable bins looking for the odd or unusual, and the beets caught my eye!
I created a rudimentary black box with a sheet of glass on black posterboard and a trifold display board for the background. I used two small light panels from Lume Cube, with the power turned way down and the temperature adjusted to warm, mounted one on the camera hot shoe but turned slightly to the side and handheld the other one at an angle that I felt produced the amount of shadow I liked. I experimented with shooting in monochrome but eventually got better results shooting in color and converting to monochrome in Camera Raw and then playing with the filter sliders. I also did a little brush work with a dark overlay to downplay some of the highlights I felt were distracting. I enjoy the drama of strong contrasts and low-key images, so this was a very fun challenge for me!

we followed the directions on the box for the batter; the mushrooms were tiny cremini that i just plunked into the batter. the bell pepper was sliced into approximately 1/4-inch slices. The sweet potato was peeled and boiled for 10 minutes before slicing 1/4-inch thick.
