Veggies from Farmers Market.
John, a friend of mine, from Romania, buys his veggies from a market whose owner drives 50-60 miles outside of Bucharest to buy directly from farmers and sell in the capital city.
When I saw those veggies and the salad, I wished
I can Time Travel to my country to taste it.
Prairie grass for dinner again - since the Prairie Dog's i diet consists of grasses and leaves. A little too fibrous for my taste!
Wasn't to worried about the Corona Virus when I had to lay down in a prairie dog field to get this shot -- they may eat veggies but still poop a lot!
Gay was in middle of prepping these veggies for our dinner when I spotted this photo op. It brought to mind the oft quoted chef saying about how we eat first with our eyes. : ))
First time attempting to grow some of my own veggies. I'm delighted when I saw this beauty emerge. How does a tomato even grow, let alone turn from green to yellow? Seems rather miraculous to me. Can't wait to taste it with the purple basil and other herbs!
Veggie component to my dinner tonight...if I get the time I'll post the final product tonight. Have a day off work today so thought I'd put a bit of time and heart to the main meal of the day :))

I am glad that my neighbourly grocery shop has been acting lately on the lines of No waste. Yesterday fruits & veggies are sold for €2 a box. Such a satisfying feeling it is to know that good food isn't being trashed just because it doesn't look super fresh !

This is a shot of the fresh pickings from my garden today. Home grown and proud of myself. Two variety of pole beans, red onions and baby carrots. I also harvested 13 garlic bulbs last week too!
With more beans and carrots along with peppers and parsnips and hopefully "red" tomatoes, i think for my first attempt at growing produce, i have done myself proud!

This week I am going to work with frozen food, putting my frozen mixed veggies on display today. They will be going in my soup pot, no need to waste anything.
The topic for Macro Mondays is Vegetables, so I took this shot of what we start every evening meal with: zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli and rutabaga (not shown) that we dip into a ranch/balsamic vinegar concoction, so at least the start of our meal is reasonably healthy. Considering the next course tonight was lasagna, I guess healthy stops with the veggies...
Mama was always so deeply grateful each time we came from the market carrying two big denim bags, which she had sewn ages ago, filled with "G-d's abundance"as she would say.
She loved to write a list of everything we bought, each vegetable and fruit had its price next to its name.
This list is in Mama's memory. She's been gone for five years today. R.I.P. beloved.
