This is another image for the Mission 24 challenge theme of STOCK.

Here I'm showing instant vegetable soup stock. Yay for having stuff in the pantry!

Thanks goes to Mika for getting supplies.

vibrant color and variety of vegetables at a local farmers' market

I put together this dinner from scratch in about half an hour. It's a veggie burrito -- prior to folding of course.

Here's what was in it: sautéed veggies (onion, garlic, green and yellow bell peppers, asparagus, mushrooms), refried black beans, rice (I also threw some salsa in the rice cooker with the water), fresh tomatoes, and of course CHEESE!

There were lots of leftovers, which will be great for lunch tomorrow!

Made for a 60th birthday for an avid vegetable gardener. The cake is white with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. The dirt is crushed Oreos, and all the pieces are gumpaste. The larger pieces, including the gardener are rice krispy treats covered with gumpaste.

Everything is growing fast after a warm autumn...

We received our new produce box this afternoon, and I was very excited to crack it open. So many lovely leafy greens!

I'm not known for my culinary skills. I'm more the washing up type if someone else cooks,,,

But from time to time, I'll step behind the stoves...

Previous occurrences have included some Jamie Oliver recipes (bless him for making me a cook!), shortbread and BBQ sauce (that one used a very scientific lab like recipe, was fun!).

So I wanted to document my second broth making,,, this one was particularly good looking and super nice smelling and made for awesome mushroom risotto later!

Kitchen points to me, yay :)

farm fresh vegetables on table

Street market, Bologna, Italy, 2010

My first attempt at japanese cuisine. I marinated the beef in rice wine vinegar, soy suace, garlic, crushed red pepper, unagi sauce, and tangerine juice. I boiled the udon and I cooked the beef and veggies (mushrooms, carrots, seaweed, and snow peas) in vegetable broth. Finally, everything was tossed into the same pan to have the flavors cook together and I added more soy and unagi sauce to taste. My friend, who's been to japan, said this tasted authentic.

Stalactites are first mentioned (though not by name) by the Roman natural historian Pliny in a text which also mentions stalagmites and columns and refers to their creation by the dripping of water. The term "stalactite" was coined in the 17th century by the Danish Physician Ole Worm who created the word from the Greek root stalasso, (σταλάσσω), "to drip".

In yellow shoes I get the blues

Though I walk the streets with my plastic feet

With my blue velvet trousers, make me feel pink

There's a kind of stink about blue velvet trousers

In my paisley shirt I look a jerk

And my turquoise waistcoat is quite out of sight

But oh oh my haircut looks so bad

Vegetable man how are you?
