Il concetto di "Lolita" reinterpretato attraverso i lavori digitali dell'artista francese, in arte Mijn Schatje, nella mostra "Mystic Lolitas", dal 16 aprile al 30 maggio.
La Lolita dell'immaginario collettivo, provocante e desiderabile, viene ridisegnata secondo un ideale estetico e filosofico. Mijn Schatje la trasforma in una ninfa angelica, dalla pelle diafana che ricopre carne trasparente, con dolci occhi, enormi e ipnotici.
E' attiva da tempo nella scena elettronica parigina avendo creato diverse cover di LP e CD per diverse case discografiche tra cui la Record Markers (del duo della elettro francese Air) e la Ekler’O’Shock. Ha vinto diversi premi per il suo lavoro per l’etichetta TimeRelease (US) e per la Avant Garden (Taiwan).
Si occupa della direzione artistica e delle illustrazioni per il brand Reebok and per la model agency di New York Women Management.
La collezione 08 del brand italiano Fornarina è stata disegnata dal suo stile, portando le protagoniste delle sue opere originali in giro per tutti i Fornarina store del mondo: Los Angeles, Korea, Hong Kong, London, Las Vegas…
In contemporanea collabora come consulente artistico per Playstation/Sony Entertainment e ha recentemente cominciato a tenere lezioni e workshop alla Parsone American School of Design, a Parigi.
Ha una intensissima attività come promotrice di artisti, conosciuti e non, su Secondlife.
Il suo lavoro, sognante e sofisticato, è stato descritto come “digital lowbrow” o “Pop Surrealism”. Un mondo a metà tra il romantico e il surreale, innocente e sofisticato allo stesso tempo, popolato da semi-elfi con enormi occhi, un luogo dove è facile perdersi.
Le sue opere sono state pubblicate da Illustration Now 2 della Taschen, Dazed & Confused, Computer Arts, WeAr, Territory, Die Gestalten Verlag o Pig Magazine, per fare alcuni nomi.
E' l'autrice della copertina del romanzo "Lulù Delacroix" di Isabella Santacroce.

One of the most enduring themes in the Donald Duck comic books by Carl Barks was that of the Junior Woodchucks—the coonskin-capped scouting organization in which Don's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie ranked high (they have achieved the status of Ten-Star Generals). Their diminutive but mighty handbook, "The Junior Woodchucks Guidebook and Reservoir of Inexhaustible Knowledge" has helped the boys get their "Unca" Donald and "Unca" Scrooge out of plenty of scrapes over their years.
The detail of the Barks-designed Woodchuck emblem on their caps and banner is usually seen only in close-up, due to the limits of comic book printing. But it has been utilized more frequently over the years, if only in print form. But let's think outside the box... or design outside the box.
The concept art above depicts a mid-century backing card design to hold and display a REAL embroidered Junior Woodchucks patch. Mid-century was chosen as the Barks stories were created between 1945-1965: so the 1950s is a nice balancing point, and a heavy era of scouting, due to the abundance of appropriately aged Baby-Boomers.
This is sized for iPhone 5, so feel free to use it as wallpaper. I may try and get one or two patches made to sew on a backpack or jacket, just to see if anyone recognizes the icon!
Medium: Vector art in Adobe Illustrator (note: the illustration of Duckburg Troop "A" is a scanned image from a comic book panel by Daan Jippes)
This was another personally inspired artwork of mine while reading a verse from the Holy Quraan. Used an Arabian lamp as a visual metaphor for the calligraphy to encapsulate the translation shown in the graphic.
