My latest typ illo, still focussing on different ways of manipulating type until It feels like a natural way of working.
Straying away from using existing typefaces and creating type out of my own shapes seems to be the way forward. As well as the sense of originality I get when creating my own shapes, I get a better sense of ownership. Also feels like a much more natural way of working

I started drawing this one because I love kookaburras, but I couldn't decide how to finish it. I had about three possibilities, one obscene, one mundane, and one that didn't fit the theme. Then I saw Lord Grumpy this morning and I knew exactly what to do. It fits perfectly and isn't mundane! Yay!

Another attempt at vectorizing my own hand-drawn lettering for the upcoming issue of Iconographic — a Spanish magazine about custom lettering & everything related.
Apparently it's not the final version, I'm still playing with the letters' shapes and its inner decoration.
I'd be grateful to hear C&C from type-obsessed people and especially from the lettering gurus like Luca Ionescu and Jon Contino — I know you guys have some wisdom to tell :)
update. added the initial sketch (drawn with a ball-point pen).
