Not HDR. I promise.

Altro tentativo di foto a soggetto architettonico. Stavolta il risultato è un po' troppo freddo.

This is a wacky wide angle shot of the Piece Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire. I was lucky enough to be there early on Sunday morning so was able to get some shots without people.

The Piece Hall was built in 1779 for the trading of woolen cloth woven in nearby mills and weavers cottages. The is plenty of history on the internet.

I used a Sigma 12 - 24 lens for the picture. When I was considering purchasing the lens I read several reviews and to be honest they were all pretty damning and critical of distortion and fringing etc. but my own view was that you don’t buy this type of lens if you’re looking for photographic perfection, you buy it for a bit of fun.

The Vanishing point is a history of linear perspective. And, as such, is the practice of creating the illusion of three-dimensional depth on a two-dimensional surface. Sometimes, the intersection is off the page and leads to a different looking image. Here, the vanishing point aligns with the horizon, as it must, but just to the right of the frame. This technique was used to further emphasize the conditions of the area.

Once again in the Nicola Valley, it is late afternoon, and in the summer heat. The tops of dry grasses are highlighted, and form a line leading toward the horizon. Shadows play their part as the sun is only peaking over the hills, just outside the frame. The area is exceptionally dry and experiencing a drought. Strangely enough, last year this area was flooded and only the hills were visible.

Golden hour on the easternmost fishing pier at Captree State Park, NY -- July 9, 2022

Well… I felt that it was about time that I interrupted my series of serious Namibia images… with something totally silly and completely over the top!

This composite Vertorama was inspired by the amazing work of the talented Ben Heine.

Nikon D300, 10-image composite, with completely different camera settings for each shot!

A Jaguar (E-type) seen in a veteran car encounter that happens at weekends... with a nice vanishing point, right?

Passageway at London Bridge Tube station. There never seems to be much foot traffic through this part of the station any time I've passed through here, perfect for that empty Underground shot.

The track outside my house this morning (January 9th 2021) normally a few walkers around perhaps more during the COVID-19 crisis but this morning completely deserted.

The Viaduc du Day is a railway viaduct in Vallorbe in the Jura-Nord vaudois District of the Swiss canton of Vaud. I took this picture on the footbridge. To get this perspective I had to lie down on my belly on the floor and my clothes looked accordingly afterwards. :-)

Now for something different.

I needed a break from all those flowers!

This is a pedestrian overpass from the beach to the hotel, over a busy road in Fort Lauderdale.

I tried a B&W version, but the colour version really caught my eye.

After experimenting recently with film, I just had to add some grain.

Thank you, your views, favs and comments are greatly appreciated!

Fall in Union Park in the South End of Boston. Shot with Sony a6000 & Sigma 19mm lens, and processed in Lightroom. I posted a version of this photo awhile ago, but in this one I have emphasized more the bright colors and the contrast between the red brick and yellow leaves. You can see both versions side by side in my post processing comparisons album.
