The Fred Meijer Heartland Bike Trail is a "Rails-to Trails" conversion.

This old RR goes from Holland to Hamilton, Michigan, about 20 miles.

Grand Haven, Michigan

With the rising lake levels, the opportunities to walk the Grand Haven pier safely are far and few between.

… but the car park was much closer 😄

Yesterday we visited the farmers’ market, with family, at Hoghton Tower, we then enjoyed a pre-booked afternoon tea. A very nice day it was, except the weather didn’t cooperate.

Our afternoon tea was booked for 2.00pm, by 1.00pm it was raining and cold. My sister in law asked if we’d be able to have our afternoon tea earlier than booked. They were very cooperative, and our large circular table for 8 people was already reserved.

The afternoon tea was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We made a couple of purchases at the market too… two beautiful Norwegian blankets. Mine has a design with stags on it, and Tracey’s has horses. Tracey also bought some honey.

When we came out of the afternoon tea all the stalls at the market had packed up and left.

The remains of an old windmill (near Kearney, County Down) mark the last signs of a simpler way of life that has all but vanished from our modern world.

We now live in a fast-paced, industrialised world dominated by instant gratification and self-obsession. A world without moral absolutes, where anything goes. A world that says "live for the moment".

It is a world that also appears to be dominated by anxiety, hopelessness and a complete lack of contentment.

Above all, we live in a world that gives little or no thought to the Creator and what He expects of us.
