Fin de año en Puerto Vallarta 2009

Banderas Bay is Mexico's largest natural bay. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the bay each evening. The Old Mexico city of Puerto Vallarta offers many choices for a nice place to stay. 12/24/2008

One of those random Puerto Vallarta snorkeling boat rides ended up here on Playa Animas, a splendid, quiet beach.

The bay of Puerto Vallarta is the 7th largest bay in the world.

The Malecon at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, extends all along the shore downtown.

Our Lady of Guadalupe - Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church dominates the skyline of Puerto Vallarta with it's most recognizable and endearing Landmark, the crown, a replica of the crown worn by Carlota, mistress of the Emperor Maximilian in the 1860s !

The original crown on the church was damaged by weather and erosion and was restored in 1981. On October 9th 1995 it was completely destroyed after a strong earthquake in Colima. It was replaced with a temporary fiberglass model and since then has been replaced with a crown sculptured by the famous Jalisco artist Octavio González Gutiérrez who is also responsible for the whale sculpture you find when entering the Marina Vallarta area.

Puerta Vallarta Photo Trip

Puerto Vallarta, Estado de Jalisco, México

I really enjoyed a brief excursion off of the main streets and tourist sections of Puerto Vallarta. I would really be interested in knowing about their electrical codes if there are any! My idea for this shot was to compress the gritty urban irregularities and realities of the scene using a longer focal length of 200 mm. Single shot hdr processing was used to bring out the variety of textures and detail.

Camera Nikon D800

Exposure 0.01 sec (1/100)

Puerto Vallarta, Estado de Jalisco, México

Puerto Vallarta is a Mexican balneario resort city situated on the Pacific Ocean's Bahía de Banderas. The 2010 census reported Puerto Vallarta's population as 255,725 making it the second largest city in the state of Jalisco.

There's a wonderful new pier along the Malecón in Puerto Vallarta. It's difficult to show the angle, but it swoops in a gentle curve to the sea where boats pick up passengers. At the top is a beautiful sail like center against the very blue sky where you can sit and watch the people or pelicans.

We traveled as a family to Puerto Vallarta to celebrate Doug and Sally's 50th wedding anniversary (and Thanksgiving).

Dr. Cox: Loretta, relax. I've been involved in every ridiculous TV induced panic there is - poison pills, SARS, West Nile, North Face, South Fork, East River, Monkeypox, pop rocks, toilet snakes, Mad Cow, Bird Flu, Swine Flu, and quite frankly every other flu that you could really only catch if you actually fornicated with the animal it's named for. And as a parting gift, I will tell you this - narrow it down to two symptoms; vomiting and diarrhea. Cause it's just not E.coli unless it's firing out of both exits...

Setting sun over the Bay of Banderas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Fantastic sunsets greeted us every evening during our holiday there during Christmas 2008.
