My last stop in Mexico was Puerto Vallarta.....it was always warm and sunny with beautiful ocean views to admire. Below are pictures along their famous boardwalk, the malecon, lined with various statues and artwork along the way.
Vallarta Dancers statue located at the El Malecón in Old Town Puerto Vallarta. Jim Demetro, a US artist, was first inspired to create this impressive sculpture in the year 2000 when he witnessed the Xiutla dance troupe performing the "Jarabe Tapatío" (Mexican Hat Dance) on the Malecon, under the direction of their instructor and choreographer Professor Enrique Barrios Limón.
Another in the series of Domes in the Conchas Chinas region south of Puerta Vallarta. Mostly white, they can be colorful or even tiled. Wonderfully varied and interesting abstract images, especially if well cropped. Great sensuous curves and interesting patterns and textures usually against a Mediterranean blinding white.
Not Grandma's quilt, but the multitude of patterns on this view of Conchas Chinas Roof and other patterns in Puerto Vallarta is amazing. Count the separate patterns in this small area. Amazing. Enlarge to better see the interesting helter skelter pattern details.
A molten sun sitting on the sea. A minimalist sunset in Puerto Vallarta.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND COMMENTS AND FAVES, ETC. I APPRECIATE EACH ONE. :)
MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS!!
We visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for Thanksgiving and a 50th wedding anniversary. I tried to take the time for sunrise walks along the ocean.
"Vallarta Azul"
I managed to get this through the plane window of Puerto Vallarta nestled between the sea and the hills.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIEWS, COMMENTS AND
FAVES, ETC.
GRACIAS A TODOS!
Cinco de Mayo may have passed but that doesn't mean the time to visit Mexico is over!
Puerto Vallarta is one of the biggest (and gayest) travel destinations to hit up over the summer. Get out here!

We traveled as a family to Puerto Vallarta to celebrate Doug and Sally's 50th wedding anniversary (and Thanksgiving).
Taken from a boat heading out of Nuevo Vallarta towards Boca de Tomatlan and looking towards the southern end of Puerto Vallatra, this scene was too good to miss. I tried a few shots but, with the small boat skimming over the waves, only this one really showed the beauty of the morning haze and mist over the town and its surrounding mountains and the sun glinting off the Pacific Ocean in the Bahia de Banderas (Bay of Flags).

This really wasn't a great photo to start with, but the sunrise sky provided some interesting clouds - and a Kodak Portia film filter gives the image a bit of an ethereal look. I wanted to share this image with people who haven't visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in a while. I first visited this sleepy little fishing village 35 years ago, and you could walk the cobblestone streets and enjoy a lobster dinner on the beach. Much of that still exists in what is now called Old Town, and then there's Nuevo Vallarta ... the high-rises, resorts, casinos, Wal-Mart and Sam's Club seen here. Build it, and they will come.
