Med denna Valborgsmässoeld/Majbrasa har vintern rasat ut och sommaren är i antågande.
With this ”Valborg-fire” /Mayfire at the 30th of April we are celebrating that winter is gone and summer is coming.
På Åland fejrer man stadig Valborgsaften, ligesom man gjorde visse steder i Danmark førhen. Nogle siger endda, at 1. maj - Valborgsdag - er dagen hhvor man skal bade i havet første gang.
Some late Valborg (Walpurgis night) photos from earlier this year, I think. One of the more crazy events in Uppsala.
Once again, last of april. The ancient Swedish celebration of Valborg, sometimes known as Walpurgis in English.
A bunch of branches, planks and other junk that burns in gathered in a field over the spring and then set alight.

Valborg Hansson (* 28 January 1874, Stockholm/ + 13 January 1942, Stockholm) was a Swedish stage actress. She also acted in three films.
Hansson studied at Dramaten's student school in 1890-1892. She was subsequently employed in the Swedish and Finnish provinces, 1894-1898 at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki, 1894-1898, 1910-1911, 1912-1914 and 1915-1917 at the Albert Ranft theatres, 1899-1902 at the Dramatic Theatre and 1921-1922 at the Helsinki City Theatre. Hansson also undertook her own tours. Her field was mainly the finer comedy, where she drew female characters with humour, amiable grace and emotional warmth. Her roles include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Maria Stuart, Madame Sans-Gêne, Monna Vanna, Karin Månsdotter, Ghismonda in A Venetian Comedy, Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac and Lady Frederick.
Hansson acted in three films: Bröderna Östermans huskors (William Larsson, 1925), Arnljot (Theodor Berthels, 1927), and in particular the early sound film Kärlek måste vi ha (Gustav Bergman, 1931), shot at the Paramount studios in Paris. She was married in 1899 to Axel Hansson. Her son was Axel Stig Hansson, better known as the composer, scriptwriter and musician Jules Sylvain. Hansson was buried at the Norra cemetery in Stockholm.
