What happens when you take a compact front-wheel drive family hatchback, rip out the engine from the front, strip out the back seats, and put a 252 BHP 2,946 cc V6 engine in the back instead, setting it up so that it drives the rear wheels? You get this.
This is the RenaultSport Clio V6. It discards practicality with reckless abandon, eschewing such niceties as fuel economy, seating, luggage capacity, a tight turning circle, and soft ride comfort. This is a sports car, not for getting your weekly shopping. It's for taking to the track, or for driving down twisty back-roads.
At the time this Phase 2 model was launched (in 2003), it was the world's most powerful production hot hatch. It will accelerate to 60 MPH in 5.9 seconds and can attain a top speed of 153 MPH. The V6 engine being situated just a short distance behind the driver, and driving the rear wheels instead of the front wheels, gives this car a much different driving experience than the standard Clio.
There were only 1,309 examples of the Phase 2 model built between 2003 and 2005. This example was registered in 2004. Being as rare as they are, they seem to hold their value very well - as I write this (July 2023), most seem to be selling for between £30,000 and £60,000.
This car was parked in a row of other sports cars, on display, as part of Peterhead Week.
Status: works. Shutter sticks open on bulb mode but closes with re-firing.
Circa 1937 Voigtländer Brillant V6. Came to me with the two filters (yellow and red) and a handwritten note in the side chamber.
The camera features the second-best lens fitted to the Brillant line, the 7.5cm f/4.5 Skopar. The best Brillants had f/3.5 lenses. This also has a very fast shutter for this camera, a Compur that goes all the way down to 1/300th of a second, at least when it was new.
As of the time of this photograph, I still have no idea if this camera will take decent photos or not. It's loaded with Kodak Tri-X, about halfway through the roll. We'll see.

I went to view this 604 today for a Autoshite forum member, It's only covered 29000 miles and is a 1 owner from new car.
The beginning of a rather busy day. These numbered shots should make some kind of log.
As its lovely engine had already been removed for use in an MR2 and some panels had been sold to help keep another one on the road, there was little point keeping this forever. Spent a couple of evenings removing the panels and any other bits I might need.
It would have been good to keep the suspension struts and maybe even cut the good rear wheel arches off it, but I had a limited amount of time and have to be realistic about what bits I might ever use/need.
A shot of it below when it was with its previous owner on a different registration. It then reverted to J929PEW when I bought it in 2011.
A shame to see it go, but I gave it a good stay of execution including a couple of trackday sessions at RAF Marham, and bits of it are still around helping others.

My family wondered when my first photo would come, the answer was sitting in the queue for the Channel Tunnel at 6am! It was early, apologies for the blurriness. It looked very smart and would be a fine way of cruising the autoroutes and long, straight N-roads.
Did see a French Calibra later the same day (no photo I'm afraid), but none since then. Still got a week to go though...
I have good friends who work at Blackburn Motor Company in Vicksburg Mississippi. The other day I came across this.
I have heard it said the weakest part of an engine is in the valve springs. This is a cell phone photograph of an obvious dropped valve but, I don't think I have seen on where you couldn't see the valve base. The base has been pushed through the cylinder wall.
73_365 Running herd. The last shoot at the ranch today was a small herd of horses running. We didn't get the light we were hoping for because the clouds were rolling in as the sun was coming up. I can't think of anything as majestic as seeing a herd of horses running free. And the thundering sound...it's really something.
