Celebrating 100 years of the Liver Building 'The Macula' from the Chez republic. The first Showing was Friday night, I went back on Sunday the last show to get both better still images and Video clips. Second time around I also saw better the flow of history portraid. The whole of the facade of the Liver Building was used as a projection screen for a stunning show detailing the History of Liverpool from the Middle ages. starting with the tide washing up the beach (the Liver Buildings are built on what was the shore), flowing grass fields, an eagle swooping in from the Welsh mountains (the Liver bird is part Eagle), the construction of Liverpool castle, The plague, the start of the shipping trade through to slaving, the Elizabethan and Georgian expansion and then the industrial revolution (the first passenger train left from Liverpool for Manchester), the Blitz in the second world war, the birth of Modern Liverpool and the Beatles through to the City of Culture and 'Le Pricesse' spider.
I continue to explore ways to improve my photographic efforts. I look at other peoples photos, I watch some of the Utube videos geared towards photographing birds, I research further the concepts that I do not understand ( and there is a lot I do not!) Then I get out there and shoot! In the excitement of the chase I forget some of the stuff I have been exposed to but slowly I am getting better results.
I really struggle with the whole ideas around modern ISO. In the old film days ISO was what it was in the film you purchased, now you set it where ever you want and if it is too high you can to a degree correct the resulting noise. This photo is ISO 1000 but it is still a very good photo.
I have so much to learn.

Perhaps you know the melody to this ode to sping a simple folk song sung as a choral round. If not google the song on utube and teach it to your kids.
i was trying out the sekonic L-358 (i have my bronica all ready to go!!) and so i captured this really great light (well, to me!)!!! i also took a shot of the watermelon that carl brought home (and i will post that sometime) but this just spoke to me as the photo of the day. it is the photo of the day because it will always remind me of the "aha" moment with the bronica and the light meter--not that i understand the light meter THAT well (and i haven't yet developed the shots from my bronica--so who knows) but i can understand it enough to use it!!! LOL--i need a class for everything!!! and yay to utube for all those fabulous tutorials!!!! happy saturday to all!!!

Dr Brian May looking tired but working hard to get across the points and reasons why the Badger Cull should not be allowed to happen .Please help make his hard reasoning and work worth it by signing epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/38257 to #StopTheBadgerCull
When asked to be photographed or asked for his autograph with fans after ,each time his eyes lit up and he gave a broad warm smile.... but then returned the tired serious look as this campaign to help the Badgers,Wildlife and even the farmers of this country is straining on his face and his gentle sincere nature..As he left the meeting there was the usual banter of a tired family in a hurry to get home and rest after a busy day, you know that just get in the car moment ! ,, when your day is done ..I noticed this morning that despite his tiredness Dr Brian had still tweeted near midnight to his followers when he got home to thank people for their hospitality and support as his courteous good nature required . I hope that anyone who has not heard Dr Brian May or his team of scientists and x farmer will go and find out what they are saying online via UTube videos of their talks ,Facebook pages Twitter links or where ever they can as they have some very reasonable and valid things to say why Badgers should be vaccinated against TB and not shot as the government wants. It would be just rude and ignorant to dismiss these polite and educated gentlemen without hearing them out..

Okay maybe not this much. When I saw these I like the flowers but didn't want the standard pot or vase or acrylic reflected bottom. So I used water. BUT water is actually boring unless it is moving (or has a pumpkin being thrown into it - see previous shot) I used water. To give the water some interest I agitated it and used a studio light with an amber filter to shine through the water. I used an off camera SB600 to expose the flowers. 1/60 sec, f4.5, ISO 200. The on camera flash was blocked from contributing to direct exposure but was reduced in power and used to trigger off camera SB600 and studio light. The water idea originated from a UTUBE video

Le foto del viaggio in barca tra le Isole Ionie. Un vero viaggio, non una semplice crociera, perché oltre la vela e il mare abbiamo vissuto numerose esperienze sulla terraferma.
Abbiamo assaporato da vicino quegli aspetti e quelle curiosità che fanno parte del mondo ellenico e che solitamente si perdono durante una classica vacanza in barca a vela.
Abbiamo degustato vino, cucinato nella cucina di una taverna sul mare, prodotto i nostri formaggi, mangiato i piatti tipici, ma soprattutto abbiamo conosciuto i greci.
Un mix di mare e terra!

The picts of the boat trip between the Ionian Islands. A real journey, not just a cruise, because beyond sailing and the sea we have tried many experiences on land.
We have closely tasted those aspects and those curiosities that are part of the Hellenic world and that are usually lost during a classic sailing holiday.
We tasted wine, cooked in the kitchen of a tavern on the sea, produced our cheese, ate typical dishes, but above all we met the Greeks.

I find it morbidly fascinating from time to time to experience London in all its amazing diversity. political perversion seems to know no limit as I watched this week, in a mixture of horror and fascination like a alien Irish spy, as Tony Blair tried to explain to the English nation why he felt the overwhelming and compelling need to go to war, and how the Magnanimous prick was completely unapoligetic for being the lap dog of Bush.
Blair was said to be saddened that he had not managed to serve as Prime minister for as many years as Thatcher, Instead he will have to content himself with Killing more Men, Women and Children than Gengis Khan, Ironically, for a man that is so obsessed with Legacy, his memory will live no longer than most politicians-as a Ghost story that Iraqi Women tell to frighten their Children, while they try to put out the flames on their backs.
surely now, he will be Knighted for such awesome perpetual lies on a world stage, and should thusly be charged with a knights errand, - to seek the mythological beast-weapons of mass destruction and hang some guy in a shed and record it on a mobile phone so it can be leaked on Utube that would tie a nice confusing bow over the whole sorry incident - oh wait, been their ,done that
