Utopia is an imaginary place inhabited by an ideal society who enjoy complete social and political harmony. Utopia translates to both “good place” and “no place”, and this imagined model of perfection can inspire us to envision, design, and transform the world we live in every day. In this session, students will dream wildly, envision their own Utopias, and become the change they wish to see in the world. The course will explore the concept of Utopia through various forms of creative communication, ranging from printmaking and music to installation and portable architecture.
An upholstered bed with a cream, black, and gold color scheme and to add drama, selected graphic wallpaper for the focal wall adds an enlightening approach.

The original idea of a utopian society failed, but later a group of spiritualists moved in. They would hold their services in secret, underground. In 1847, most of them were killed when the Ohio River flooded.
They are said to have met in this underground chapel. It is also thought that this chapel may have been used by the Underground Railroad.
