Toute ma vie, j’ai regardé au loin à la recherche d’horizons aux lendemains scintillants. Mais, la vie m’a appris que je devais les créer moi-même, ici et maintenant, mais sans les couleurs euphoriques de l’arc-en-ciel de l’utopie. (Patrice)

in an age of terrorism, violence, hate and ignorance, people seem to think about protecting our freedom by taking it away piece by piece for the sake of "security". Mesmerized and numb amidst the endless stream of entertainment provided by mass media, we watch in apathy how people turn our society of freedom into a society of oppression, control, surveillance and fear. And so far, we do not really care... Some days ago, German government has agreed upon a law to force telecommunication companies into long-term retention of all sorts of communication data for the sake of "fighting terrorism", and the next steps already are clearly outlined: Preventive surveillance, a "trojan horse" software developed by government and security services in order to have hidden access to personal computers while they're online, massive use of biometrical data (fingerprints, ...) in personal ID cards and passports and so on... we're merrily building "1984"...

You know I love thick fog. So I took some effort to go to my favorite avenue. My yellow house was after 3 ft disappeared. I'm really glad that Jordi Jordi Sureda wasn't here and suddenly jumped out of the fog. Otherwise I would have needed a doctor. Because there is no hut to hide yourself. The way he looks in his post today, that would have flatten the toughest duck. ;-))The Duster fell completely out of my grid. Which was actually enough for me, because I thought I was hopelessly alone.
Of course I wish us all a better 2022, but I think it's a utopian desire! Stay healthy everyone and have some vibrant last day's in 2021!

This is the entrance to Rock City! I knew I was going to love this place from the moment I stepped in. It was so beautiful and so fairytale'esq. My kinda place for sure! I could have spent hours out here!

Savor the gentle wind against your skin while enjoying the tucked in sea views from it’s many decks. It also has several beach spots to relax at, places where you can listen to the calming surf while tropical breezes caress and calm your mind. Bask in the emerald greens of the warm island waters...

This building is referred to by the locals and the historical marker, by the front door, as the Old Rock Store.
This was originally the two-story home of R.H. Kincheloe, one of the first citizens of Utopia. It was built out of "native rock" in 1873 in Sabinal Canyon near the Sabinal River
In 1946 the home was partially torn down (the second story was removed) and abandoned. According to an undated newspaper article, some years later the property was purchased by Mr. Otis Fowler. He laid a new floor, re-roofed the one story building and plastered the walls. It was to be used in
connection with Mr. Fowlers' lumber business.
Down through the years the building has been a home, post-office, general store and store house, and most recently, Windmill Feed & Supply. The building is currently vacant and, once again, in need of repair. Not bad for an old-timer.
