It is amazing to me that the vehicles can ride the rails as well as drive on the roads. This flat bed truck with a crane can be a very important piece of equipment when equipment or supplies are needed down track and the road is far away.
The 1-800-Call-OKIE guy came today and painted the yard and stuck flags in the ground giving me some idea where not to plant my Thunderbolt blower.
Fortunately, there is an open space that will be perfect.
This Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000AT air raid and tornado siren was part of the Norman, Oklahoma outdoor warning system. Norman elected to replace their mechanical sirens with electronic outdoor warning sirens and I acquired this siren from the installation vendor for the new system.
It was an exhausting and expensive ordeal. My objective is to strip off the existing paint, repaint it and apply new decals, and then reinstall it on a short pole as a static display.

I thought this was interesting pic of an anbandoned utility pole near an old chicken house. The rust adds some interesting color.
Members of the Connecticut AARP joined State Senator Derek Slap (D-West Hartford) in the State Capitol to give him their AARP "Utilities Champion Award" for his legislative work in 2018 opposing a bill that could have led to senior citizens paying more for basic landline phone service, losing access to free telephone directories, or possibly losing their landline service. Sen. Slap voted in committee against that 2018 bill, which ultimately failed to pass in the state legislature. (April 24, 2019)

These trucks usually run as a companion truck to the manlift rigs. They are used for drilling the holes and setting power poles.
Another in an occasional series -- about toolboxes, bags, kits, and so on. Especially those that are used a lot, day-in and day-out.
This one is more of a carryall bag, used by a utilities maintenance crew. Seen at a jobsite where they were fixing a broken water main.
