In my opinion, this is a design fail. I could not figure out how to trigger this hand dryer. Several other women in the bathroom had the same problem. For ages, we've learned to wave or shake our hands under a vent or nozzle. When you do that here, nothing happens. You must hold your palms close to the two angular panels at the base of the device. THEN the hot air starts flowing.
No one wanted to touch the thing - for sanitary reasons, but when waving your hands all around the device you get desparate. The only solution was to wait until someone with more experience came along and used it and you emulated them or simply asked them for help. Good thing I wasn't alone at the time or I would have resorted to using toilet paper...
This little critter is called the Dyson Airblade Handdryer V. There are video instructions for their use, but I don't usually surf the web for that sort of thing before going off on a long car trip. They sure could have used a video instruction looping right on the dryer itself. Maybe it's super smart _after_ you view the video. Meeting it on its own with no prior introduction was an unpleasant user experience.
Amex encourages you to check your application status online, but sends it's customers into panic mode when they see “cancelled”.
In reality, I'm waiting on employment verification which I mailed in… this usually takes 1-2 weeks to go through, but in the meantime, I imagine that Amex gets a lot of worried calls.
At the very least, it should instead read “Pending”, or something more verbose like “Pending – Employment Verification”.

This is about the best I can do to get Blackboard to have a clean, simple look that hopefully doesn't get in the way of navigation and communication.
