The Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W177) is the fourth and current generation of the A-Class range of subcompact executive hatchbacks and sedans. It was launched in 2018 as the successor to the W176 A-Class, with sales commencing in March 2018. The available body styles include:

5-door hatchback (W177 model code)

4-door sedan (V177 model code)

4-door long wheelbase sedan (Z177, only sold in China)

The W177 A-Class hatchback officially debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It is based on the front-wheel drive MFA2 (Modular Front Architecture) platform and features front MacPherson struts, and rear torsion beam suspension on lower end models or a multi-link rear suspension on A250 models.

All models feature the new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with a redesigned touch interface and voice-controlled smart assistant that is activated by saying "Hey Mercedes". MBUX also contains what3words functionality as standard. It is also able to offer quick shortcuts to menus based on the past habits of the user. The system is also optionally available with an augmented reality navigation system that records and displays directional arrows on the road in the navigation system.

Our company reorganization merged three departments into a new User Experience department, comprised of the former Creative, Design and Information Architecture departments. This little display of goodies brought back from the IA Summit 2007 and CHI 2007 is a nice display for clients and new employees to demonstrate some ideas in user experience design.

The stand-up personas are from Cisco and the postcards are from Cooper. The UX Methods trading cards came from nForm and are a very cool commodity. Sadly, I didn't manage to get my hands on a web analytics card!

UXBASIS is a toolset of 24 different user experience methods that all individually or in conjunction with eachother will ensure a good user experience.

With UXBASIS there is no one-fits-all way of using the methods, but this diagram gives an example of what could be considered a standard projects user experience approach.

By answering basic questions about the product we can see which UXBASIS methods would be useful for the project in order to forfill the needs.

As the questions are answered and the various methods are used the project moves down through the diagram. Initially the methods used are the so called information gathering methods. These fit into the Business Intelligence and Analysis sections of UXBASIS. Then as the information gathered is used and the project moves further down we get to the methods within the Interaction and Structure sections of UXBASIS, and finally we finish off with the Sample section which covers the testing of the product.

For more information about UXBASIS go to www.uxbasis.hellogroup.com
