It is always good to remember that what we consider old now, back in the day was very modern. Case in point is this part of the church Saint Etienne in Perriers-sur-Andelle. The church itself is medieval, founded in the 11th century, with some architectural details added in the 14th century. But not here. Here we can quite obviously see some later works, this is not medieval (and the church did see substantial work done in the 16th and the 19th century). So at one point this was the modern, up-to-date part of the church when the rest of it was more or less dated and old-fashioned.
First used normal oil painting effect at 70%. Had planned to crop, but really enjoyed the surrounding foliage so decided against it. Finished by enclosing in the film strip 6 frame, which also darkened some of the photo corners. Located in my neighbor K’s rose garden.
How many times were you awe struck by towering, majestic mountains or dunes, and overwhelmed by their incredible vertical scale? Yet, when you return home and look at your images, they don't seem to convey the grandeur? This image: A sail boat emerges from the shadow of a towering cliff face as it makes its way through the outer limits of the awe inspiring O-Fjord in East Greenland's Scoresby Sund. I hope this image conveys the incredible scales of this wild place!

Using as much common sense as we can muster, we head out into the COVID-ladin world. Oregon had just started what they called Phase 1. In doing that they opened a few State Parks. This one had been on our radar for a long time. I had been bird dogging the web site to see when it would open. As it turns out, I caught it just as they updated. They were going to open tomorrow. So the next day, as early as I can get the family out of the house, we set out for White River Falls State Park. This is in eastern Oregon, on the desert side of Mount Hood. They say you are not supposed to travel far under Phase 1, this was about 2 hours away. That was probably further than the State would like to see. However, we were sure to get gas locally and take food. Shy of the nice folks we met at the park, we interacted with no one.
The Ranger at the Park said we were the first people to get there on the first day they were re-open. He seemed glad to see us and the nice camp host talked our ears off. Clearly glad to see humans.
The Falls were in perfect form. See, you need to hit this waterfall at the right time. To early and its all white or brown form the glacial silt that runs through it (hence the name). Too late in the season, and I mean a week too late, and it looks like someone turned off the water. This day the flow was strong and the water quite clear.
We drove out through the Gorge and looped back over Mount Hood. All around a very pleasant drive. Sadly, it was a ton of driving for only about an hour at the falls, but still a great time had by all. Even the dog.
This was mid May in 2020, a time we will look back on as a very strange time. I hope I read this in 5 or 10 years and laugh about it. I hope.
So this is new to me...blogging horses...I used to sell and breed them here in sl...now that story is way too long for flickr and it might put you to sleep so let's just stick to the point...These horses and all the accessories that go with them are really fun! Picked some coats from the event that would go well with the holiday that is coming up in a few days..Please take a look!

Using a former Cotton Belt GP40-2 and a former Mo-Pac GP38-2, UP train YFX80R-02 eases down the middle of State Line Rd in the West Bottoms with two pulls from Cargill Nutrena. They'll add these to the rest of their pulls at UP's State Line Yard and eventually drag them all back to UP's Quindaro Yard at the Fairfax District.
This is the only true remaining stretch of street running in Kansas City, and as the road's name implies, it runs right down the state line. This job out of Fairfax comes over here to switch at least twice a week. 5/3/23.

Playa Perissa, se trata de un espléndido tramo de costa de casi 7 km de arena negra volcánica, al igual que Kamaria salpicada de cantos y guijarros, y un mar de un azul intenso oscuro donde se pueden practicar distintas actividades acuáticas como el snorkeling, pero también jet ski, paseos en motos de agua, banana boat, kiteboard, esquí acuatico etc., que se pueden contratar en alguno de los centros acuáticos de la zona.
En Perissa tienen también un parque acuático. Por lo que respeta a la arena, además de zonas equipadas con sombrillas y hamacas y las libres, también hay otras para practicar beach-volley, áreas reservadas para los más pequeños y otras dedicadas a los happenings (actividades de baile coreográficos de animación). Otros servicios interesantes a lo largo del paseo marítimo de Playa Perissa y en el pueblo en sí, son sus negocios, restaurantes, cafés, minimercados y tiendas de ropa y souvenirs.

From February of this year. I used the Twirly Camera for this, but it turns out that it needs some repair. The gears are grinding a bit, and the negatives turn out uneven. There’s a place that fixes them in the midwest. I'm sending it there soon.

La città di Shanghai, situata sul fiume Huangpu presso il delta del Chang Jiang, è la più popolosa città della Repubblica Popolare Cinese e la città più popolosa del mondo.
Shanghai è vista come capitale economica della Cina.
Grazie allo sviluppo dei passati decenni, Shanghai è un centro economico, finanziario, commerciale e delle comunicazioni di primaria importanza della Repubblica Popolare Cinese. Il suo porto, il primo del Paese, è uno dei più trafficati al mondo con Singapore e Rotterdam. Nel 2010 ha superato Singapore come volume di traffico.
Per quanto concerne l'estensione superficiale, quindi la vera grandezza di una città, è la terza realtà più grande del mondo, inferiore soltanto alla sua connazionale cinese Pechino, che la supera di oltre 2 volte e alla seconda classificata Tsingtao, quasi il suo doppio.
I maestosi edifici lungo il Bund, la magnifica passeggiata di circa 1 Km e mezzo regala una vista mozzafiato sullo skyline di Shanghai: il Pudong (a est del fiume Pu). “L’isola” di Pudong è l’area più moderna della città: è proprio qui che troverete i palazzi più famosi e imponenti, come ad esempio la Jinmao Tower, il World Financial Center e l’Oriental Pearl Tower che sono considerati la massima rappresentazione dell’architettura moderna mondiale, nonché espressione dello sviluppo della città negli ultimi 100 anni.

Using the stain glass window as a table top to use with light projected from below. A kerosene lamp is center stage with the wick lit for light from above.
The Wesleyan and Primitive Methodists and Church Army all used 'Gospel cars' in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. Within Methodism, horsedrawn wagons were partly replaced by hand-pushed 'trek carts' in the inter-war years, and finally by deaconess' caravans in the 1950s. Gospel Cars were used for ministry in markets, fairgrounds, at overnight moorings for barge and boat people, and to traveller camps, and to reach rural locations.
This faithful reproduction of Car No 11 was built in 2011, and is currently housed on the Boat Dock at the Black Country Living Museum. This serves to link it within the museum campus with one of the historically marginalized groups - the boat and barge people - to whom the Gospel Car missioners were reaching out. The inside of the Gospel Car can be viewed from the front platform even when no-one is specifically on duty, so visitors can see for themselves how the Gospel Car operated. It was a little home on wheels - what are seats during the day were beds at night. It was a little church on wheels - the bigger audience would be addressed from the platform while the smaller audience would be invited inside. It was a little audio-visual centre - see the organ and the pictures hanging from the wall. What you may not see, because they are stored out of sight, are the gramophone, the percussion band instruments and the magic lantern. It sounds wonderful, but with walls of just a single plank thick it would certainly be very very cold on many a winter night.

CD 302 Hemingray power insulators still in service use in Ohio after more then 100 years of service duty. It is extremely rare to see large colored glass pintype power insulators still in service use today.
CD 302 insulators are a moderate size power insulator that were produced by the Hemingray Glass Company in Muncie, Indiana. They were produced from c1893 to 1920 for use on early power distribution with a voltage rating of 40,000 volts. CD 302 insulators are known as the "Muncie" style insulator, although some have the Ohio embossing on the reverse side instead of Muncie Type.
This shot shows three in service with all three having the Ohio embossing on the reverse side. All insulators have the Hemingray / Patent May 2ND 1893 on the front embossing.
Looks like there was a break in the wire at one time. See in note.

It's just about 8:15 AM on a gloomy morning during the last week of the Alaska Railroad's 2017 summer passenger season. The passengers aboard the Coastal Classic (train 210W) cruising toward Seward have been riding in darkness for most of the 90 minutes they've traveled so far since pulling out of the historic Anchorage depot. The SD70MAC/GP40-2 duo leading the way are seen here at about MP 70.6 on the ARRC mainline just south of Kern Creek in this wide angle view looking across the Seward Hwy from the small Forest Service pull off. Getting this shot without cars or tourists blocking the view can be a challenge is it is a very popular spot for visitors to stop for a photo to mark their adventures in the 49th state.

A vintage display in the middle of the country west of Milledgeville,IL. This is on the property of an Illinois centennial farm. Have a great truck Thursday all and pray for rain-no rain in my area for almost 3 weeks! Couldn't get my planting done till early June because it was too wet and it hasn't rained since.I guess you can't mess with Mother Nature! LOL
This farmer ran a local filling station for many years as well,thus the Mobil memorabilia...
