Post processing is not much satisfying , i don't feel comfort to give much effort in post processing rather it is best what can be done manually.

It was very cold and many buses were canceled due to the snow storm, but the Peace March on the Pentagon was very well attended, nevertheless. Starting in the Lincoln Memorial, ending with a rally at the Pentagon's parking lot. The march meant many things to many people: bring the troops home, remove certain government officials, respect international laws, search for peaceful solutions to international and religious conflicts, etc. Some participants donned costumes, most carried signs prepared by organizers or home made. The most striking was probably a man pulling a flag wrapped coffin... with boots, dog tag and a picture of a fallen soldier. An admittedly smaller group of anti-protesters lined the street demonstrating that not all think alike and since we live in democracy, have a right to ...
smile for me
pretend everything is all right
it's another chance
another chase
another bullet
you'll get away
like you always do
cause it seems
i'm always
shooting at ghosts
putting holes in memories
i can't stop the chase
you refuse
to die
you refuse
to vanish
you refuse
to just
go away
bang bang
then hit rewind
We have returned from our two-day anniversarystravaganza. We have returned from the crazy acreage of one of the world's premier horticultural gardens (and yes, I just like to say "horticultural"). We have returned with 548 pictures.
Most of them are, of course, crap. (Or, as an adjective, "crappy," or "craptacular," or "crapulescent.") But, in the coming weeks, you'll see many pics from our weekend in the Brandywine Valley. Amongst such pictures, you'll find:
Flowers, none of which I know the names of. I will make up names for these flowers as I go along.
My wife, being pretty.
Me, being stupid.
Goats.
And other things.
More coming tomorrow, when the flood begins.

In the early morning of September 12, 2005 then brand new BNSF 5778, an ES44AC GEVO, was the DPU of an westbound coal empty at West Cordero Jct heading into Powder River Basin for reloading. SD70MACs BNSF 9880 & BN 9518 were the power on the head end of this train but are out of sight. Above BNSF 5778 the three engines of an other coal train can be spotted waiting in the line at the mine loader which is occupied by the train seen at the far right.
they spot the landscape
dot the sky
and reside inside
gates and traps
watch your step
nobody said it was fair
nobody said it would be easy
it's not
it's not
struggle and fight
against monsters
monsters created for myself
i'll defend my walls
fortify the towers
to keep them in
to keep you out
no
nobody said it would be easy
and it has never been fair.

Peeking into the archives again. This seemed to be the fitting companion to yesterday's photograph. I remember thinking at the time that it would be cool to do some "conceptually similar but seasonally different" shots like this - but of course I forgot, for like, 3 years... :)
. . . made from thousands of styrofoam coffee cups glued together facing outwards to form a large continuous and undulating 3D surface. It suggests to me some sort of runaway organic cellular growth. The piece is suspended from the ceiling and is back lit with natural light. Dimensionally, I'd estimate it to occupy a volume of approximately 10m x 5m x 5m so this image only captures a relatively small portion. The piece is by Tara Donovan and is 'Untitled'. Check it out if you get a chance - it is a very impressive and imaginative work of art and, I think, a fascinating photographic subject. Check it out at the Boston Museum of Fine Art.
Vintage Sinclair station in the border town of Texhoma, TX, a place mostly about big feed lots and big grain elevators.
I'm old enough to remember when gas stations were like this. It was gas, oil, water, some repairs, and maybe tires, but the extent of "convenience store" was a pop machine outside, maybe a gum/candy machine, and probably a cigarette machine, since seemingly everyone smoked back then. They were little boxes, with a couple of pumps which YOU DID NOT TOUCH. That was reserved for the attendant, who would check your oil and pull a squirt bottle out of the back pocket of his cover-alls, spritz your window and wipe it clean while the pump went "ding" with each gallon.
Maybe I'm getting fuddy-duddy syndrome in my old age, but I miss those times.
