This house and barn combination is part of what is called the Holder Farm in Upper Allen Township, Cumberland County. The House was built circa 1836 in the federal style. Classic elements of the federal style are present including rounded fan light over the front door, symmetrical construction, and embellished brickwork in gables, chimneys, as well as Flemish bond facade. The tract on which the house and barn now stand, totaling over 300 acres, will be developed in the near future.

While I was standing here taking pictures, another hiker passed me going the opposite direction, pausing to comment on the lovely scene. Then he asked me if Multnomah Falls was as big as this one. (For the record, this waterfall is a mere 125 feet, and Multnomah is 611 feet.) I smiled and said yes, Multnomah Falls was pretty dang big. I had hoped to run into him again when I stopped by Multnomah Falls later - I would have loved to see his reaction to it - but I didn't.
