Take in my garden in Wigan, Lancs., I have no idea what species this is. Its body was approx. 5-6mm long and it was lurking in a tiny hole in a leaf. It looked dark grey until I looked through my camera with my Sigma 105mm macro lens attached. How wrong I was!

I call this unknown because this truck is positioned right as you drive through a small town of Texas , Zavalla and even though it has a sidewalk to walk around it and fence to make a statement it has no statement , no info no nothing about it ..I suppose the town people that have lived there for generations know whos truck that belonged to but I sure don't ..To top this off I looked up Zavalla and this is what it gave me on Wikipedia..This man the town was named after was signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence who served as the first Vice-President of the Republic of Texas.Who knew, you live and you learn. Well the name of the town was named after him.I am still like going what is this truck about ????

Stunning looking example of the all new DAF XF in 6x2 configuration most likely on its way to its new operator.

An Evzone on guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square in Athens. The Evzones are an elite branch of the Hellenic Army and the men are selected specially for this unit based on a number of requirements, one being at least 6' 1' tall.

The Tomb is in the French urban and classical tradition, combined with the modern spirit of Art Deco and with symbolic references to Ancient Greece. The main issue was the integration of the Tomb with Syntagma Square and with the neoclassical Palace and the contribution to the redevelopment of the square. The sculpture is at the center of the wall. To the left and to the right there are two side staircases while in the center there is a rectangular raised grave. The stairs of the monuments are purely decorative, as the steps are for observation during ceremonies. The sculpture represents the naked male figure of a dead warrior lying on the ground. He holds a circular shield in his left hand and wears an Ancient Greek-style helmet. The representation of the body gives the impression that the Unknown Soldier is ready to arise at any moment.

To the left and right of The Tomb are sculptured phrases from the works of Thucydides. To the left, "There's one bed made, but, still, empty: the bed of the unidentified soldiers"; to the right, "The whole earth is the sepulcher of famous men". Both quotes are from History of the Peloponnesian War. Over the main sculpture in smaller writing, is a sculptured phrase which reads "To an unknown soldier".

I wish I knew what type of flower this is....

edit: A thistle, perhaps?

No fallen soldier should ever go unknown, and certainly must never be forgotten.

This unknown soldier serving under Major Hatch died during the Indian Wars of the 1860's. He rests all alone in a park setting at Pembina North Dakota.

The only color in someone else's garden. Don't know the flower's ID.

Any idea what is the name of this bird?

Possibly on the road from Mallaig to Fort William. Taken in 1987.

When you hike, make sure you know your path. There are so many unknown paths that lead you to nowhere. Carry a map if you have to assuming there is no reception for mobile devices.

China has a lot of unique fruits and this is one of them. I've never seen them before but fell in love after first bite. It's like a cherry with the pit in the middle but the fruit itself is much more juicier with a unique taste. I ate it by the buckets! Seriously, I dropped a few pounds because that's all I mainly ate in the first week. :)

This fruit is a seasonal thing and can get rotten pretty quickly after being picked, so when it's available, I chow down.

If you never tried it, try it. It's awesome! :)
