Daylily Unique Display - 29-32"" EM D OE Re F 4 3/8"" bloom. Diamond dusted, creped. Gold with strong burnt sienna air brushed in ruffles with rib on petals and sepals. Raised gold ribs, green heart, small gold throat. Close star shape. Slight fragrance. Planted in 2011. Not the strongest grower, but it could be the location.

Fabien Castanier Gallery is proud to present A Beautiful Madness, the first solo exhibition in the USA by JonOne. Though raised in New York, JonOne has lived in Paris since the mid 1980s where he has established himself as an artist, building his career that has spanned over 20 years.
From his early days as a youth, tagging the streets of Harlem in the 1980s, JonOne has always emphasized a painterly approach, bringing brushes instead of spray cans to tag subway trains. Drawing from the energy and freedom of painting in an urban landscape, he translates his roots as a graffiti artist to present paintings that are a completely unique form of abstract expressionism. Akin to Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, JonOne’s pieces exhibit a enormous sense of movement and color. His compositions combine freestyle, precise strokes, repetition and texture for a uniquely balanced yet dynamic visual experience.
“...my life is very fast-moving and intense, and I hope I convey that energy through my work. [My paintings] represent me but in a different dynamic from when they were linked to a street context... The way I present my work has changed but I can’t deny my roots or my schooling. Even so, I don’t see myself as a street artist because I don’t feel that need to go out and do stuff. I’m not committed to a cause. I’m someone who’s converted the negative to positive and today my work is done in the studio.”

It is the spoon that is significant in this pic. It was the largest, longest, and heaviest coffee spoon I have ever used, indicating just how high the quality was.

This image represents something unique, because even though the piece of ice may seem similar to the stuff that is on the ground, it is different. It is unique in that it is pure and clean, unlike the dirty snow that is on the ground in front of it. There really isn't any symmetry in this photo, adding to the "unique" idea of it. The subject is also slightly off to the side, and isn't perfectly centered. The most prominent compositional technique is Rule of Thirds.
Sometimes erroneously called a "Chinese fir," Cunninghamia lanceolata is in fact a unique species of conifer more closely related to the redwoods.
