Žygimantas Amelynas' best-known work, “The Old Wise Man” (2013), is a gigantic visual that pays homage to the Kaunas-born artist Jurgis Mačiūnas, who helped Lithuanian art acquire a certain notoriety from the second half of the 20th century. Painted on the facade of a former shoe factory, this fresco represents a barefoot giant dressed in a red undershirt smoking an enormous pipe.

Žygimantas Amelynas was born and raised in Kaunas, the country's second city. At the beginning of his studies in applied graphic arts, he developed a passion for street art and was particularly seduced by the idea of ​​transforming cities into open-air galleries by covering old buildings with images that invite on reflection.

24 February 2021 - As seen on my hike from the top of Mt. Tammany, NJ overlooking the Delaware River, I-80, Mt. Minsi and the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap. Stunning perfect day with clear skies and temps in the 50's deg. F. Tough hike up with the hard pack snow softening up and feeling more like sand than frozen snow. Saw about a dozen people on the trail, all stopping to put on masks before passing, all in all a good day.

So the last time I took a selfie here was 31 Dec 2010. I figured every 10 years is about right, I placed my camera on my coat ( the same one for 2010 and managed to get one with me in the viewfinder. I sure didn't need my coat for warmth, it was so warm I almost took off my heavy wool undershirt on the way up.

The barong Tagalog (or simply barong, from the word baro) is an embroidered formal garment of the Philippines. It is very lightweight and worn untucked (similar to a coat/dress shirt), over an undershirt. It is a common wedding and formal attire for Filipino men as well as women. The term "barong Tagalog" literally means "a dress that is Tagalog", or "a Tagalog dress" (i.e., "baro na Tagalog", with "barong" being a contraction of "baro na") in the Filipino language.

The barong was popularised as formal wear by Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay, who wore it to most official and personal affairs, including his inauguration as president.
