Great Northern 313041 in an unbelievable state at Alexandra Palace with the 12.38 Hrs, 2V63 Moorgate to Welwyn Garden City (Photo by Steve Powell)

The snow just keeps on coming this winter, I doubt we've had this much and continuous snow coverage in 20 years. It's unbelievable ... what happened to global warming!?

Unbelievable yet true, an assembly of psychopaths rules our world.

Terrible events through most of 2014 involving thousands of innocent people worldwide prove that they do exist. These powerful people wield enormous power causing huge amounts of lives lost and infrastructure being destroyed. Their sick exibition of unchecked, wanton, political and financial power controlling mercilous military-industrial complexes shows us that our world is in grave danger.

“Unbelievable,” he berated himself darkly as he shoved the shower faucet off tersely and stepped back out onto the tiled floor. He hastily wrapped a towel around his hips and stood in front of the mirror.

A sound of disgust gurgled from his throat and he braced his palms against the counter. How could he have let his control slip so badly? He shoved his hand through his damp curls in frustration.

He’d been denying how attracted he was to her for months now. Perhaps ever since he’d met her he’d been in some form of denial – he couldn’t be sure. Hadn’t she grasped his attention even that very first night when she’d insisted on hauling his heavy suitcase full of books up the stairs? Even now the memory of it made him want to smirk; She was so stubborn.

Almost in the same instant, he pushed the thought away again. Could he have had a crush on her since then? Had it honestly been that simple?

North Bank Habitat Management Area, Roseburg BLM, Oregon USA

Wyoming has an unbelievable variety of world class wildlife. From grizzly bears to marmots, golden eagles to cutthroat trout, Wyoming offers something for everyone. BLM lands are vital to big game, upland game, waterfowl, shorebirds, songbirds, raptors and hundreds of species of non-game mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. As you drive through Wyoming, you can’t help but see pronghorn (commonly called antelope after its African cousin). The pronghorn is the fastest land animal in North America, running up to 55 mph. There are almost as many pronghorn in Wyoming as people! Besides pronghorn, Wyoming also is home to many other game animals including bighorn sheep, mountain goat, elk, mule deer, white tail deer and moose.

Mammals of all sizes are abundant: marmots, chipmunks, skunks, raccoons, badgers, rabbits, beaver, prairie dogs, coyotes, foxes, mountain lions and bears.

If you look overhead, try to spot a golden eagle, a Swainson’s hawk or peregrine falcon. Listen closely and you’ll hear the distinctive song of Wyoming’s state bird the western meadowlark. Wyoming is also home to about 40 percent of the Greater Sage-Grouse in the United States.

Anglers travel from all over to take advantage of Wyoming’s world class trout fisheries. Wyoming streams and lakes provide habitat for cutthroat, rainbow, brown, brook, lake, and golden trout. Other popular game fish include walleye, sauger, pike, grayling, ling, bass, bluegill, sunfish, catfish, and carp. Wyoming also manages habitat for several endangered or threatened species like the black footed ferret, the Canada lynx, grizzly bears, trumpeter swans, and the Wyoming toad.

BLM Wyoming manages wildlife habitat in cooperation with other state and federal agencies. When authorizing land use activities, the needs of wildlife, fish and plants must be taken into consideration.

Wyoming’s wildlife is truly worth the watching!

Unbelievably large octobass | This mammoth three-string octobass is so tall that you can't even reach the levers to operate the faux fingers up the fingerboard; you step on pedals to pull the levers that push down the strings. These three images are similarly composed. They are the result of my mid-afternoon drive back north along Rt 1 in Big Sur. The fog was still around as you can see but the color was intense.

This nicely scalloped rocky beach was stunning w/ the long shallows for the water to froth up upon. To give you a sense of scale check out the note that points out the cars on the road north of me, this is a really big vista that almost looks compressed in this shot!

A Ladakhi girl named Thuk-Jay. Birth-blind but unbelievably cheerful!

I whispered the word "unbelievable" over and over again as the setting sun appeared to linger. I was there, yet I didn't believe what I was seeing was real. It was truly, unbelievable.

Orlando runs this tourism advertising campaign with a slogan that says, "Orlando! Unbelievably real!" and I think that ranks among the funniest things ever to have come out in advertising. Orlando understands its main criticism is that it's a Disneyfied version of a city, a fake city made of Styrofoam blocks laid down over the last forty years with no culture or history other than "Walt Disney thought the sinkhole lakes were pretty," so they try to fight it with a line straight out of the cartoon version of Pinocchio ... "I'm a REAL boy!"

We saw the real Orlando after we checked into our hotel across the boulevard from Sea World and went to dinner in a zone of chain restaurants from other places. We passed by this real Orlando Boston lobster shack with its giant lobster cars and ate at a make-believe Caribbean shack. I got some rice dish that came in a pineapple. We followed the tradition we'd established this trip and ordered Key lime pies to go, and they gave us thawed Marie Calendar pies topped with merengue manufactured a year ago by a machine in Des Moines.

For what it's worth, there is supposedly an actual downtown to Orlando, but I wasn't interested enough in proving or disproving a point about American culture to go looking for it. I do know there is at least one "real"esque kind of thing in Orlando, though it's still an Orlando kind of "real." It's just Orlando "real" from seven decades ago. We'll start exploring that tomorrow, and that will go on for days.

In the mean time, this concludes Day 8 of our 12-day trip. I promise, we're getting there.

This was incredible, it actually worked!
