UGGs are often linked to sororities as well. There is a stereotype that sorority girls are always on the cutting edge of fashion, often spend most of their money on fashion (whether it be practical or not) and are extremely class conscious. As a stated--this is a stereotype, meaning not every sorority or girl apart of a sorority thinks or behaves this way. But UGGs have also penetrated to the sorority realm as well, giving members another way to mark their association and bind them while at the same time unintentionally creating a necessity to be apart of their status level.
My theory on Uggs is the same as my theory on Crocs...they're completely hideous, so you might as well go all out and get a totally cute color!

This is how I typically wear my Uggs... with boot cut jeans worn over the boot. I'd love to tuck them in but I think that would draw just a little more attention than I really want.
Mind you it'd look really cool!

so I went over to the table and met the artist Phill...Nordstrom's commissioned him to customize the UGGs they sell. Phill sometimes sits in the Nordstrom shoe department for seven or eight hours. He uses Prisma Color pens, up to twelve colors...it takes him 30 minutes to two hours to decorate a pair of boots, depending on the design. And, he's very cute!
