Senior Latvian National Armed Forces Officers meet with Michigan Army and Air National Guard officers and non-commisioned officers during a tour of Michigan National Guard facilities on June 1-2, 2013.

The Latvian Armed Forces officers toured the Michigan Joint Forces Headquarters in Lansing, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center and Camp Grayling Joint Readiness Training Center during their two day visit.

The Latvian Armed Forces and the Michigan National Guard have been paired in the NATO "Partnership For Peace" program since 1994. Michigan was selected by the State Partnership Program to assist Latvia in meeting North Atlantic Treaty Organization military standards because Michigan has the largest Latvian immigrant population in the United States.

Michigan and Latvian Soldiers have trained together, fought alongside each other in Afghanistan and trained Liberian Soldiers since being paired by the "Partnership For Peace" program.

The Command Sergeant Major of the Michigan National Guard, Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Lincoln, shows visiting Latvians the Hall of Heroes Memorial at the Joint Forces Headquarters. PHILIPPINE SEA (May 30, 2011) Waves crash over the bow of the U.S. 7th Fleet command flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). There are 60-70 ships, 200-300 aircraft and more than 40,000 Navy and Marine Corps personnel assigned to the 7th Fleet. This includes forces operating from bases in Japan and Guam and rotationally-deployed forces based in the United States. PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 06, 2017) - Two MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopters assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 4 pass by the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group will report to U.S. 3rd Fleet, headquartered in San Diego, while deployed to the Western Pacific as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of 3rd Fleet into the region. U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers from various military police units across the Midwest participate in a mounted patrol convoy training to respond to roadside bomb indicators and enemy attacks at Camp Atterbury, Nov. 7. Land (AS 39), participates in a soccer match along with other Land and Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Louisville (SSN 724) Sailors against their Royal Malaysian Navy counterparts aboard Sepangar Royal Malaysian Navy Base as part of a theater security cooperation port visit. Louisville, homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI, is on a Western Pacific deployment, while Land is on an extended deployment to Guam serving as 7th Fleet's lead afloat fleet maintenance activity from the ship's homeport of Diego Garcia.

Das ganz kleine Skizzenbuch war immer dabei seit Frühjahr 2015. Darin sind schnelle Zeichnungen hauptsächlich aus dem öffentlichen Nahverkehr (U- und S-Bahn, Straßenbahn und Bus). Zeichnen, so wenig wie möglich auf das Papier schauen. Jetzt ist es voll. Die Zeichnungen werden zu ganz kleinen Aquarellen (7,5x7,5 cm).

 

Always with me the very tiny sketchbook (3 x 3 inches) is for quick sketches without looking at the page. Pencil drawings become very tiny watercolor paintings over time.

One from the archives, 2009, near Sunrise Beach, Texas. A federal lock on a graveside gate, it is quite old.

U-352 (German U-Boat) panoramic view. On May 9, 1942 it was sunk by the Coast Guard Cutter 'Icarus.' This site was discovered in 1974 by Olympus owner and Captain, George Purifoy, and several friends. The history behind this site has been televised and featured on the History® Channel, and is one of North Carolina's best known dive sites.
