Penultimate Units are a very versatile family of modular origami units designed by Robert Neale. They used to be among my favorite modular designs at the time I folded lots of modular origami (early 2000’s). The original online resource with instructions looks quite dated by now, so with permission from the author, I prepared some phototutorials. Apart from the original units, they also show some of my modifications which allow an even broader range of shapes. I hope these phototutorials will spark renewed interst in this wonderfully simple and yet so powerful origami unit family.

5)shows me burnishing the cane slices. I rub quite hard, you can notice that the clay is stretching quite a bit! (6), the finished layer, it is now about a #3 thinness on my pasta machine.(7). I make a paper template which I put around my wrist for sizing. This picture shows the three layers that I use to complete the bracelet. The brown clay is scrap and is about a #2 on the PM, and the marbled clay is run through at a #3 on the PM. (8). I cut the top layer according to my template and place on top of the scrap layer. then trim. At this point I make it slightly larger so I can trim all three layers later

This is some sort of tutorial on how I do my brick wall backgrounds. Though scrapbooking papers can give you a very realistic and easy brick background, sometimes I love to make a "real" wall with texture and color.
The wall is made out of styrofoam, the window is made of foamboard.
Here, I've already glued in the window. It was made out of foamboard and painted black. The "glass" is from packaging. The window was glued in with hot glue, since the cutout was a bit irregular (downside of the "irregular but more realistic" factor). But the glue filled in some of the holes and gaps and was painted grey after drying.

Jewellery was a big part of Elizabethan Tudor fashion, especially for those who were rich and important. It showed both their wealth and status. Jewellery was also used to convey political messages, display religious beliefs and to remind people of friends and relatives who have died. Jewellery in Tudor times was not widespread and is essentially worn by the upper classes and those who could afford such finery.
Tudor bracelets tended to be made out of silver or gold and decorated with precious stones. Strands of pearls could also be wrapped around the wrist. The Elizabethan cuff is reminiscent of bracelets of the era. A wide cuff - elaborate, luxurious and intricately woven. A central panel of bezelled large beads form a bold focal point to the cuff. Eminently suited to the delicate wrists of the Elizabethan Tudor lady of the upper classes.
