Re-writting my notes from my first meeting with my new Japanese tutor. During the lesson I just scribbled down the notes quickly so we could move through, and now I am taking the time to neaten them up and organize all the thoughts.

Grammar is my weakest point, so that is what we are working on, and if I run across any new words, I will pick up those as we go. Since my grammar is at a lower level than my kanji and general vocab knowledge, I probably will not run into anything much that's new to me for a little while. This is good though, because this means I can fully concentrate on the grammar.

The verb form above is not the only thing we went over today, we also worked on turning adjectives into nouns... such as (cute) かわいい → かわいさ (cuteness) and so on.

I plan to also save these notes digitally as well, but this is good handwritten practice for me. She said that usually students want to focus on spoken Japanese, but I asked her to tutor me based on reading and writing, because that is what I am already strong in. I will let the speaking come later. She said she was the same way when learning English, when she came here she was able to read and write, but not speak very well, so she understands where I'm coming from. :)

Thank you, hana, for suggesting that I look into private tutoring (as an alternative to self study or college classes).
