Act: The Serpentine Seductress

Let the Serpentine Seductress lure you into The Robins Garden. Rumor has it her ancestry dates back to that of the garden of Eden. Drawing you in, this sultry serpent will entrance and hypnotise you with her liquid movement and flawless feather fan dancing.

Happy New Year!

*

TO THE NEW YEAR

With what stillness at last

you appear in the valley

your first sunlight reaching down

to touch the tips of a few

high leaves that do not stir

as though they had not noticed

and did not know you at all

then the voice of a dove calls

from far away in itself

to the hush of the morning

so this is the sound of you

here and now whether or not

anyone hears it this is

where we have come with our age

our knowledge such as it is

and our hopes such as they are

invisible before us

untouched and still possible

- W. S. Merwin

"Genius is often only the power of making continuous efforts. The line between failure and success is so fine that we scarcely know when we pass it — so fine that we are often on the line and do not know it. How many a man has thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort, a little more patience, would have achieved success.

As the tide goes clear out, so it comes clear in. In business sometimes prospects may seem darkest when really they are on the turn. A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success. There is no failure except in no longer trying. There is no defeat except from within, no really insurmountable barrier save our own inherent weakness of purpose."

— Elbert Hubbard, was an American writer, publisher, artist, and philosopher (1856-1915), as quoted from Electrical Review (c. 1895), this was later published as part of various works by Hubbard, including FRA Magazine : A Journal of Affirmation (1915)

Sweeping Zen

"... it fills your hand; yet it transcends one and many. If you talk about it, it fills your mouth; yet it is infinite in space and time."

I am running into a New Year

and the old years blow back

like a wind

that I catch in my hair

like strong fingers, like

all my old promises and

it will be hard to let go

of what I said to myself

about myself

when I was sixteen and

twenty six and thirty six but

I am running into a New Year and I beg what I love and

I leave to forgive me

~ Lucille Clifton ~ " I am running into a New Year"

“There are metaphors more real than the people who walk in the street. There are images tucked away in books that live more vividly than many men and women.”

— Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet

If you're in Harvard square and near this place, you should probably check it out. They had very good food and one of the biggest selections of unique beers that I've ever seen.
