Fatehpur Sikri is a small city in northern India, just west of Agra, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone buildings cluster at its center. Buland Darwaza gate is the entrance to Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti. Diwan-E-Khas hall has a carved central pillar. Jodha Bais Palace is a mix of Hindu and Mughal styles, next to the 5-story Panch Mahal that overlooks the site.

Our Daily Challenge - TRY SOMETHING NEW is the topic for Saturday 12th July 2014

Tried hand holding my camera zooming all the way out to 1200 and still get a fairly clear shot!

I have tons of ideas for what I want to do with photography, but I have been lazy lately. There are all sorts of projects out there, like 365 (1 picture each day for 365 days), but I just don't have the time to do this. So, my buddy Jeff mentioned the 52 (1 picture each week for 52 weeks), which is much more doable.

Here is my first entry; I was outside taking pictures around our apartment, and got this idea. I hope you like it. More about me in the next 51 entries.

Details: Nikon D40, 18-55mm Nikkor lens @ 18mm, 10 second exposure at f/22. I was behind the camera, but the back lighting hid it in my shadow the way I stood.

Definition of vestige

1a(1): a trace, mark, or visible sign left by something (such as an ancient city or a condition or practice) vanished or lost

This is a mixed media painting. This was painted in my sketchbook. I happened to be out in the dusty hills and roads of Durango and Cortez, Colorado for a few days. I only had the chance for this small sketchbook mixed media piece. It was made with Kissoh Gansai 72 color Japanese Watercolor paint set and a few collage materials. I feel like I can only take a day or two off from painting without getting twitchy.

This was indeed a new experience for me. This is the first time I've been able to capture a shot of the roadrunner on my swamp cooler, plus I took this through the window and screen while I was sitting at my computer. I was glad this beauty sat there for a few moments for me to snap it's photo.

I'm getting bored shooting the same old stuff, so I am now looking for unconventional things. The mirror on my motorcycle isn't necessarily unconventional, but I thought this was out of the ordinary for what I would typically shoot. I hope you like it.

held a $4 lowes peephole (for a door) up to my iphone lens... awesome cheap fisheye!

My grandmother was recently in the hospital because she wasn't feeling well, but after an angiogram everything checked out just fine; turned out she just needed her prescriptions updated. While visiting her, I decided to shoot a picture of my grandfather looking out he window. I love how this came out.

- I'm rather impressed with the way I 'scanned' this. I hung the negatives in front of a white backdrop, then shot a digital image of the negative with my Nikon D40 using my Sigma 105mm macro lens. I back lit the negative with my SB-600 flash, 1/32 power triggered with a Cybersync. Processed in Photoshop by inverting the image and adjusting the levels and curves.

This is an acrylic painting on paper attached to a wooden cradle. This painting was inspired by someone I saw on Pinterest.com. It's a little different from what think is my lane, but that's how my creativity works. I'll try something and then later turn it into something different. Never boxed in. *Androphilia is a term used in behavioral science to describe sexual orientation, as an alternative to a gender binary homosexual and heterosexual conceptualization. Androphilia describes sexual attraction to men or masculinity.

This month for me is

#mixedmediamarch. I think I'm going to take a turn to mix some of the different tool in my toolbox. A little watercolor, some acrylic, or collage, maybe some pen and ink in the mix. Geometric shapes, flowers and floaty lines, what else? March 2021 should be very fun.

I took the original photo of our 1930 Hudson while on a Saturday morning drive, with my Nikon D40 and Nikon 50mm f/1.8D. In Photoshop 7, I changed the mode to grayscale, then duotone, diffuse filter on anisotropic, then applied the high pass filter. I was going for the old postcard look, and for the most part I was experimenting and found something I liked; hope you do too. Suggestions are always welcome.

After seeing everyone else shooting water drops falling into a pool of water, I thought I'd try it. I accomplished this by using a piece of my lab equipment which pumps a constant stream of water at a rate of 0.500mL/second. This also gives nice uniform droplets.

Strobist Info: Nikon D40 with Sigma 105mm macro, 1/500sec exposure @ f/6.3; Nikon SB-600 @ 1/16 power, 24mm zoom, camera mounted shooting straight at subject.

I'm late posting for last week's photo project; haven't had much creativity as work has sapped my brain two weeks running. I was going for the "guy waiting in the shadows to seek justice/revenge" theme. I personally have nothing to seek justice or revenge for, it was just an idea I had for a photo. No worries mom.

- Nikon SB-600, 1/16th power, 50mm zoom, snooted with a cardboard US Postal service box top, shot through a paper towel, held together with duct tape.

- Triggered with Cybersync.

- Added a slight blur layer to soften the light, and some additional vignetting.

Piglet tried soft shell crab fried in crispy tempura batter and Chicken Yakitori. Piglet's boy did not like the chicken. We are very proud of them for trying something new.

I took her for a drive and decided to shoot some frames of her with my medium format.

Hereios - Try Something New!

An homage to my favorite song of 2013, Gin Wigmore's Black Sheep.

To try some things new, not only did I use the hypno-eyes clipart, but I used a texture (from Texture Time) made black & white before adding it.

What will I do without them? Love Sainsbury's. Especially the Sainsbury Magazine with great recipes. There are also great recipes online: www.sainsburys.co.uk/food/trysomethingnew/Be+adventurous....

And they have amazing food photographers. Always inspired me to cook and to take pictures.

Three exposure HDR of .223 caliber bullets, overlaid posterized & glowing edge filter layers, and adjusted the hue & saturation of each color. I think this might look neat as a large metallic print hung on the wall.
