I really like the smooth bark and contrast.
One of the main events of my trip to The City was a lunch with the woman who founded Trunk, Sharon Cinnamon. She manages a team of a couple hundred investment bankers for JP Morgan now and works in the heart of Midtown, but boy did she have stories to tell about starting what Ali called, in all seriousness, "the best thing ever." I'll have audio up on the Trunk site sometime soonish.
A detachable trunk on an early 30's Nash. That sholder is a reflection, and just to the left you can probably spot the reflection of an amateur photographer.
The Elephants Trunk Nebula. It's been a very sparse summer for astrophotography with very few clear nights. I've had about 3 good nights this last couple of months, two of them were marginal, so I was very happy after finally getting yesterday evening with reliably clear skies and I did get this rather enjoyable shot of the Elephants Trunk Nebula. This nebula is huge, what you see in this shot is about a third of the entire thing and if you take the moons apparent size, it'd fit in this frame a good 4 or 5 times over.
It has a moderate brightness so isn't really visible to the naked eye (maybe just about if the skies were very dark and there's no light pollution, but likely only as being a cloud just off the main milky way) but with a decent size scope you can observe it.
Found this great old trunk in a bedroom.
This village was for the "KMT" military veterans that left China along with General Chiang Kai-Shek, after being "pushed out" by the communist army. Built around 60 years ago, there were originally 4 villages, 2 were distroyed by earthquakes and typhoons, 2 still remain. It is called Chieh Kuo, Huwei Township in Yunlin County, Taiwan.
