My 3 yr. old Thanksgiving Cactus. Salmon colored flowers. Just finished its 2nd repot 12/14. Potting Soil,Orchiata and Leca pellets w/ Better Gro Orchids, Bromeliads & Houseplant Time Release Fertilizer mixed in. Sidenote: The process of becoming woody is termed Lignification.

My two "yellow" Christmas cactus, in bud. Upper left, "Gold Charm"; lower right "Xmas flame." The latter is supposed to be purple in bud and then turn yellow-orange. Color is pretty accurate in this photo. Looks like they'll bloom this week -- pretty close to Christmas.
