My mother, daringly be-trousered, doing her bit on the 'home front' in the early 1940s.
She's in the garden of the home in Exeter she shared with her first husband.
Several family members moved in 'for the duration', evacuated from other parts of the country.
During the Exeter blitz of 1942, the house received a direct hit.
Four people were killed: my great-aunt Kath, my cousin's wife Olive and her daughter Faye - and a non-family member, a young evacuee.

in 2011, hewitt made ‘i am a serious artist’ a performance of hewitt wearing a placard that reads ‘i am a serious artist’. on the back of the placard were changeable texts from hewitt’s studio ramblings. the phrases asserted hewitt to be egocentric, lacking in artistic talent, a football lover, a bald man, a wanker.
‘trouser wanker piece’ and ‘i am a serious artist’ leave off where the artist keith arnatt’s ‘trouser word piece’ from 1972 stopped, a photograph of arnatt wearing a placard that reads ‘i’m a real artist’. after ‘trouser word piece’ keith arnatt never made conceptual art work again…

The top has a Bateau neck with wide 3/4 kimono sleeves and a detachable belt. It is made of a gray stretch jersey knit. The bottoms are wide-leg with a side zip and tappered pleats on the front and back in a linen-like fabric. They are both machine washable but in cold water and tumble dry low.
Comfortable linen trousers. Good for a hot day or night where long trousers is a must. Great quality,
