June 30 - October 07, 2012

Closing Reception & Readings: October 6, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Closing Conference: October 7, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora: Troubling Borders in Literature and Art is an exhibition and conference featuring the writings and artwork of Southeast Asian women in the diaspora, highlighting women of Cambodian, Laotian, Filipino and Vietnamese descent and by women who identify as the often stateless Mien, Hmong, and Cham. In the aftermath of the cold war, many of these women now reside in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and other parts of the world. As an incredibly diverse group, their voices make visible the ruptures caused by colonization, war, globalization, and militarization.

not sure exactly how to describe this, other than my perspective on the sneaking-through-the-hotel poach-a-soak at the lovely Holiday Inn, one late wednesday night... (and yes, the camera survived the near-dousing)

New ideal Logic + Combi 30 Boiler installed in 2013. Poor drainage pipe installation resulting in blocked pipe and boiler fault. Honeywell CM927 Wireless thermostat failed screen went black. Replacement thermostat does not work on auto. Initially replacement not working at all as they failed to bind it to the BDR91 relay box. Boiler developed rattle and leaks. Sometimes slight smell of gas outside adjacent to exhaust vent. Really disappointed with Excell Heating in Ipswich.

This cat belongs to an awesome model and I took a picture of her yesterday. She must have not liked getting attention so she posed for the camera. Her name is Trouble ;)

I'm in trouble when Shelby sees this photo :D

This is where I'm having the most trouble with this Caesar's crown block. The diagram has zero instructions on how to get that little point sewn in. I might machine stitch the first two sides of it to the pink and grey pieces, but handstitch the join between the two denim pieces.

Not really troubled, but not really clean.

It took awhile, but here are some pictures of my new girl Haute NY. I got her back in July when my mom went to Thailand and found her at the local pullip store. She was my holy grail so I was so happy to get her!

The reason I called her Trouble... There are lots of reasons. When she came home her arm was broken in half, and one of her boots were stuck to her foot. (It was on the same side at her broken arm.) We finally got the boot off, but it broke her foot off.

Lucky I had bought an obitsu on my trip to Tokyo, so it was quite a project learning how to obitsu a pullip for the first time just so I could have my poor girl stand!

I also washed her hair, because believe it or not, it looked even worse! But I think all Haute NYs have a bit of a bad hair day. ;)

But I love Trouble no matter how much trouble she brings! She's just a natural troublemaker.
