Trophies for the winners of the Electric Category of the Motorized Sci-Fi Contest

Check out the winners here.

After Paseo it was time for dessert even though there was no way we could eat anymore. My other flickr friend Princess of IIyr discovered that Trophy makes a Green Tea Cupcake and it was close to my house! They only make the green tea ones on Saturday and Tuesday I think so today was the best day to head over for a cupcake! Wallingford Seattle

In case anyone was wondering, it seems I have lost the Iron Builder competition against Rod “2 Much Caffeine” Gillies. I know, I know, but what can you do? As part of the gentleman’s agreement that the loser builds a winner a trophy...and if there is only one thing I’m well known for, its being a gentleman...I have come up with a truly great trophy! Tis the holiday season and the holiday spirit is all about giving and spending time with the ones you love. This is why I am giving a beautiful LEGO Christmas ornament depicting Mr. Caffeine spending quality time with the one he loves. You can tell he’s a Scotsman by his ginger hair and you can tell he’s 2 Much Caffeine by his coffee mug...and his thousand yard stare of someone who can’t be trusted with a Victoria’s Secret catalog. The whole shebang comes complete with a handsome display stand with Caffeine’s namesake cleverly blazoned across the front! Any Scottish builder would be proud to display this on his desk, mantle...or in his barn! The best thing about this is it was crafted by my own petite, womanish hands, which will add much needed value to your property! Probably.

Nothing says “I can’t believe how awesome I am” like a trophy and you, sir, are the awesome-est! Rod, when you get this, you can reposition the sheep and the minifig to stand side by side so that Mrs. Caffeine and all the little Caffeines can enjoy it as well...or just keep it as is for that extra bit of humor! A Scotsman shagging a sheep inside a Christmas ornament...have you ever seen anything so adorable in your life? No, seriously...have you ever? Cuz I don’t think you have!

Happy Holidays, Rod. It was a pleasure competing with you! Now PM me your addy so this can be yours.

I've busy this week curling. I was in a couple of 'for fun' tournaments. They are not to be taken seriously, but it was nice to be on the team that won this. I also won one of the door prizes, which paid for my entry fee.

Test designs for the trophies for the Design and Artistic awards at the Brickshire Display at Ultra Con on September 13th at Sheffield Magna. The design award isn't my own design though, it's a REC IV submission, but I thought that whole type of building was a great way of representing the concept. I'll try to do my own if I can.

I designed and built this Lego Trophy Cup for FIRST Lego League kids to present to their coach. Mostly Lego Technic elements were used. The big round plate on the bottom is a rare Lego 4750 "Fabuland Plate, Round 13 2/3 Stud Diameter - (Ferris Wheel Side, Merry-Go-Round Type 2 Base)" piece ( www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4750 ). The FIRST Lego League encourages young people to explore Lego Robotics ("For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology"), and consider careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). For many more Lego FLL trophies, see the Flickr album www.flickr.com/photos/42988571@N08/sets/72157641666335543/ .

This is a photograph that I took at the Vintage Sports Car Club’s Richard Seaman Memorial Trophies meeting at Oulton Park in August 1992. There's no number 201 listed in the programme of the event (and number 15 is a 1959 Cooper), but it's a 1914 Sunbeam Tourist Trophy, one of three cars that Louis Coatalen entered for the 600-mile, two-day 1914 Isle of Man TT race. The car was not designed by Louis Coatalen, but he borrowed a 1913 Peugeot and copied it, the only significant difference being an increase in engine capacity to 3,255cc to bring it close to the 3.3 litres allowed by the rules. Two of the cars dropped out of the race but the third car, driven by Kenelm Lee Guinness, went on to win at 56.44 mph from two of the Minervas. His race time was a formidable 10 hr 37 min 49 sec.

The car is currently taxed up to June 2026, but the DVLA record shows that it is now coloured black.
