Juvenile Blackbird Turdus merula

With these shots I tried a different tack to my normal long

lens approach. I set my camera on the surface of our lawn

with a wireless trigger. As bait a few tasty morsels

of bread placed about 20-30ins in front of the camera and then

retired to observe from our kitchen. Adult birds were scared off

immediately by the shutter firing but the Juveniles were not perturbed.

It seems posting about religion that is not pro-religion is considered unacceptable and offensive/triggering to people here who are religious. All well and good, but the same applies in reverse too. My 2c on the matter.

Same photo as below, but the process I went through to get to this stage was, well,... different. I've never done anything in quite this fashion in Photoshop before, but I rather like the results. I'd been messing about, checking out the "Calculations..." option under the "Image" menu, as I'd never tried it before, and got something very similar to this. When I saved it, it didn't save as black and white. After some investigation, I discovered that "Calculations..." has something to do with channel adjustments. So, I duplicated the original image, then desaturated it. (Don't ask me why, 'cause I don't know why I decided to do that. I just did. It's what I like to call a 'happy accident'.) I went back to the original, did a "Select All", copied the results of that "Calculations..." option, then pasted it into the duplicate image. I now had two layers. I changed the blending mode of the pasted layer to overlay, adjusted the transparency to 90%, flattened it, unsharp masked it, and this was the result, which I rather like. Here it is large, or you can take a look at it on black.

I've more images from my fun with my new trigger to upload, but it's late, I need some sleep, and my mind is now bursting from the experience I just had with this image here, and with the fun I had this evening/morning playing with off-camera flash. This has been one mind-expanding day, let me tell ya!

Good night, my FlickrFriends. I'll upload more tomorrow. (Today?) Soon. LOL

Testing my new Cactus V4 Trigger

I don't want this picture to be seen as gun-fetishism, but there is certainly something pleasing to the eye about the smooth shiny beech stock of this rifle.
