Eastbound BNSF train UBIRMCI-319 comes blasting through the countryside just west of Mazon, Illinois on January 23rd, 2007 with BNSF 5386-4601-161 and 103 hoppers. Roadnames included in this train were BN, BNSF, Frisco and D&RGW. I don't remember why I videotaped it this way at the beginning, but now I'm glad I did. I always liked Santa Fe's Transcon line, never a dull moment. I was parked on Santa Fe Road.

BNSF C44-9W #5386 was built by GE in November of 2000.

BNSF C44-9W #4601 was built by GE in December of 1999.

BNSF GP60M #161 was built by EMD as ATSF 161 in September of 1990.

I had originally intended to go elsewhere that day but ended up, in Glasgow instead (my home city).

I’m glad I did or I would have missed this chap as a result. I saw him way off and instantly thought‘I must get his photo!’

It's Halloween again, so as tradition dictates I had no other choice but to carve a pumpkin today! ;)

Learning how to paint with light. The trick here was to highlight the subject with light, and not get the light source or myself into the shot and not leave light trails. The reflection was my own take on it. Not satisfied with leaving well enough alone, I also stood behind the camera to add the little bit of colorful lights to the reflection . This is not a combination shot, it's a single long exposure.

Did some shots yesterday for our Automotive Research team. The goal was so visualize the moment, when a pedestrian crosses the street and a car approaches (> safety issues).

Tricks used

- I did all the shots handheld and let Photoshop do the aligment

- I did not switch to burst mode, but just triggered fast :-)

- Layer modes used

------ Left: Pin Light

------ Right: Darker Color

. . . After hearing a loud thump on the back door tonight, I thought it might be an early Trick or Treater. Turns out it was a very small kid, in a fantastic costume! He looked a little dazed and confused, so I quickly grabbed a picture before he flew, er, I mean walked away.The best I could tell, he might of been disguised as a young Chipping Sparrow. And then he left without any candy . . .

Well... no trick-or-treaters tonight. Weather forced many municipalities in the Pittsburgh area to postpone. Me included.
