Bermuda Triangle in Athens - 11/5/2008

Latin: Hypsopygia costalis

Not sure about the identification. I used a flash so the gold colour is not as visible as it should.

This was shot on a nettle leaf.

This was me learning half square trianges!

Peyote stitch triangle with 3 Swarovski turquoise bicones and reddish brown and turquoise delica beads - very earthy, very SouhWest. The triangle measures 2" on each side and hangs from an 18" cable choker with a screw clasp.

The earrings are listed separately. Each triangle on the earrings measure approximately 1.25" on each side and they hang on sterling silver earwires.

If you purchase both the necklace and the earrings together, you will receive a 10% discount on the total purchase. Contact me before purchase to give effect to the discount.

When researching futurism, i noticed the use of geometric shapes everywhere mix with an array of colours. For my final product which will be an album cover. I am going to use the use of the geometric shapes, in particular the Triangle, mixed with colour.

PCA 161 Triangles

Assignment:

The goal of this assignment is to capture an image containing a triangle – either literal, abstract, or a composition composed of the three focal areas that allow the eye to travel around the image and hit on those areas. It doesn't necessarily have to be an equilateral triangle in the comp. A triangle can be used to position your main and secondary subjects in the frame as well as framing your main subject either subtly or in an obvious manner.

WIT: Just three flowers in a royal blue bottle to add some color to the composition. Lighting on the right side to get the blue glow from the bottle. Used pale yellow poster board as the base for a softer hue. Tried the comp on white poster board, but the contrast was too harsh. I also tried to get another triangle in the bottom left corner, but didn't quite succeed.

Experiment: cropping photos in a triangle, with a duotone which in my opinion matches the setting and composition of the photo.

For my next step in this experiment I'd like to make prints, cut out the triangle, and glue them to foamboard.

Esplanade Bridge, Singapore - March 2008

The triangles, or squares within squares, are easier to see looking down from a high ladder. When in growth the lines will be obscured. But this garden is designed to be dormant June-September (not October!) and while dormant the lines of rock will be something to look at, to make it look like a garden, not just dirt. The innermost box with white sand is the plunge bed. Then four triangular wooden bulb boxes surround that, together forming a square (which I call the diamond). Then on each side is a triangular bed only slightly raised (about 3 to 5 inches) bordered with rounded rocks. Within each of the rock triangles is a square of sandstone and within each of those is a tall square terracotta pot. This photo is roughly north-upwards. I refer to each triangle by its compass point.

Progress: the beds are all filled back in with soil + sand + compost and ready to plant. The tall terracotta pots are planted with Scilla peruviana which already had long sprouts, all undersized bulbs. (Note to source of pots: the Dierama wont work in these because those like summer water and this entire bulb garden will be summer dry. Also the Dierama would have been too top-heavy in wind.) Next step is to re-plant all the bulbs, several of which are already sprouting. Next year planting will be on schedule.
