It seemed to me almost as if someone had cleared the branches from one side of this pine tree in order to frame that mountain peak. I've been to the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge hundreds of times, and yet I still see things I've never noticed before every time I visit...like this tree frame.
The sun was burning through the fog and briefly lit the harbour below me. Taken from the High Road to Larnach Castle on the Peninsula.

Stora Sundby - Södermanland - Sverige / Sweden
In the middle of beautiful Södermanland lies Stora Sundby Castle, overlooking the waters of Lake Hjälmaren. The history of the estate dates back to the Middle Ages, when a defensive fortress was established on the site.
The architectural features of the castle resemble those of a calendar, four large towers symbolizing the seasons, twelve small towers symbolizing the months of the year, 52 rooms symbolizing the weeks of the year, and a window for each day of the year (365). Architect was Peter Frederick Robinson.

Lots of Trees in my City are with funny or strange formation....I like old trees....all of them, they have
seen so many generations of people, weather change, wars...but they are still living !!!

My husband says this leaning, lone juniper is my favorite tree. Over the years, I've photographed it many times against the distant Sangre de Cristo mountains in the evening. I shot it again earlier this month, on one of the most cloudless evenings we'd had in weeks.

Since I need some winter images for a proper photo calendar i looked for something worth capturing during those days when we had at least a little bit of snow.
Actually the amount of snow we had wasn’t even enough to cover the grass on this hill, so I cloned out hundreds of grass blades, which was great fun.
