Bathurst Basin a small triangular basin adjoining the main harbour of the River Avon in Bristol, Avon.
The basin gets its name from Charles Bathurst, who was an MP in Bristol in the early 19th century. It was built on an area of an old mill pond, Trin Mills also known as Treen / Trimm / Trim Mills. The pond lost its water supply from the River Malago as the New Cut was created. At one time it formed a connection, through two sets of locks, between the Floating Harbour and the tidal River Avon in the New Cut. The connection enabled smaller vessels to bypass the main entrance locks in Cumberland Basin. The area used to be an industrial dock with warehouses and numerous shipyards at the adjoining Wapping Shipyard and Docks, including Hilhouse, William Scott & Sons and William Patterson. Now there is a small marina, with residential quayside properties.
The Bristol Harbour Railway connected to the main line system at Temple Meads, via a swing bridge over the Northern entrance dock to the basin and a tunnel beneath St Mary Redcliffe. The tunnel still exists, but is now blocked, and the original railway swing bridge has been replaced with a swing footbridge. This bridge is manually swung by a hydraulic pump action.
Bristol General Hospital is located on the Eastern quay of the basin. When constructed in 1859, the hospital was built with basement warehouse space to defray its operating costs. The Southern quay has never had any substantial buildings on it and for many years was used by Holms Sand & Gravel Co. as a depot for building materials, brought in by boat and offloaded into road vehicles. A travelling crane on an overhead gantry was used to handle these.
The lock to the New Cut was blocked at the beginning of World War II to ensure that in case of damage by bombing, the waters of the Floating Harbour could not drain into the river. It was shut permanently in 1952.
The basin is the home for Cabot Cruising Club who own the lightship John Sebastian, which was commissioned in 1886. It was acquired by the club in 1954 and opened as its headquarters a few years later in 1959. Facilities at the basin include a toilet and shower block, a water tap and refuse and chemical toilet disposal points. Also in the surroundings of the basin are the Ostrich and Louisiana (originally the Bathurst Hotel) pubs.

Do our individual perspectives change if we are in a space together? Connections come and go as we discover the truth within our body and mind through various paths. The goals of the movement that connects us, where our decisions influence one another, are based on three basic changes: rhythm changes, movement changes, and life changes. As we make movement choices, we also accept that those choices change on a daily basis. However, we cannot change the truth that lives in our body. Being free to share our experiences is what makes us who we are.

Follow Me was created for the 2017 Jeux de la Francophonie in Abidjan, where Mix Mix Dance Collective was selected to be part of Team Canada as part of the cultural component! Their motivation for competing in the games was to celebrate the excellence in artistry, athleticism, and expression Canada has to offer. The work has been performed at Guelph Dance Festival, Fall For Dance North, and Winterlude.

We find the world in difficult times, where people are becoming increasingly polarized, taking sides with rancour and falling for simplistic solutions. We are curious about how to embrace complexity with skill and grace, and how to stay open, kind and uplifted in the midst of turbulent times. With Moving Parts, we are investigating these questions with a moving choir and singing dancers.

This is another site in Crediton which seems pretty likely to have been a petrol station in the past. It's been Treen motorcycles since 1983, so I guess it's possible they either had a fuel forecourt early on or perhaps more likely, this was a petrol station that was a casualty in the late 1970s or early 1980s and the site was taken over then. Again I'm hoping Dan might know a little about this site.

Stan the Man, Paul Treen, myself, and in front of me Karen Lang, Carole Gallagher next to me and Bernice Burt. I worked there for a couple of years in the early 80's, spot the ubiquitous "you don't have to be crazy to work here" sign, no you had to be very very normal.
Lovely bunch of people actually, would like to see them again, I wonder if Stan is still with us, he was a genuinely funny fellah, I remember he thought Spellbound on Top of the Pops was pretty good and they put up with me going through my growing up phase of my life. I left to work in Bournemouth and I guess that had I stayed my life would have taken a completely different course, and lots of pals I have I wouldn't have met.
Aug 2017 I met Karen today she reminded me that Stan was Stan Cooke.
The cliffs at Ped-n-Vounder near Porthcurno at low tide. When this was taken in 1982 there was no sand on the beach which was when Cornwall council decided to designate it a naturist beach.

Oak barrel staves and head with central bunghole. One of the staves is inscribed IANVARIVS (Januarius).
Found in a trash pit at the Roman fort at Bar Hill, Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland (see Bar Hill on Pleiades).
Dated to the Antonine period, 142-180 CE.
