I'm not sure exactly how I got chaught up in building agricultural/country stuff. I do think the new Farm sets from TLC are quite nice though, and they add a whole new side to the good old Town theme.

An open letter to Santa Claus:

Dear Santy,

I have been a really good boy this year. Just ask my mum, she'll tell you.

I have been kind to small animals (apart from wasps and bees which doesn't count) and have helped an old person cross the street almost every day. Does it count if that old person happens to be yourself Santy? Because if it does then you might want to cross out this paragraph.

Anyway, the reason I'm writing to you Santy is [a] to wish you, the lovely Mrs Santy and all your little elves a very merry yuletide and [b] to ask for a load of pressies. List is as follows:

1 x toy drum kit

1 x pair of roller blades

1 x 100% cotton jumper

1 x box of seashell-shaped chocolates

1 x deep fat frier

An otter

That's about it I think. Oh, and world peace. If that helps me get all the presents I want (see above Santy).

Thankyou for taking the time to read this letter, I hope you don't mind reimbursing me the cost of postage but frankly living in Lapland in the back of beyond a million miles away from the rest of civilisation may not be a good idea in these days of the rising cost of everything. Maybe you should think about centralizing your operation, or franchising?

Like I said, thanks for reading. And if you don't deliver everything on my list be aware of one thing: I'll be waiting for you with a bottle of chloroform and a cloth, so if you don't make good with the pressies I'll knock you the hell out, steal your sack and chuck you out in the street.

Thanks Santy!

Lots of love n hugs n threats of meaningless violence,

Darren

Only 3 more sleeps to go!

I did a photo session in order to add to my Peace, Hope, Joy series today, but I just couldn't decide between my two favorite pictures from the shoot. So you got two pictures instead :]

Anywayyy,

I thought this was fitting because I'm running out of hope that there is still some nice weather left in '08.

It's been nasty and rainy and yucky for way too long now.

And I know this is my second clothes-line picture within a short time period, but I liked it.

Bring back the sun!

Oh, and HBW! Sorry there was no real bokeh wednesday shot today!

THE TREE HUGGER IN ME

When the world all around you is madness and stress

Your plans lay in ruins, your dreams are a mess

When your brain is lethargic and eyes just can't see

Take a moment in time, spread the love, hug a tree

Wrap your arms gently round , let your mind wander free

Forget all your worries, and the goodness you'll see

Mother nature your guardian as the Earth soothes your soul

Let the happiness flow, contemplation your goal

When The day is a lifetime filled with pain and frustration

Take a moment to halt all your procrastination

Take a walk, breathe fresh air, set your soul to fly free

Press your flesh to the bark, try embracing a tree

Place your face to the ripples and your feet to the roots

Give a smile, sighing deeply, here's the love, fill your boots

This life is so precious, and so fragile it's true

Take a moment to share, let the happiness through

This journey we make on a road full of turns

Leaves us battered, bewildered with a heart bruised that yearns

But cast off your chains and true freedom you'll see

Mark a moment in time, feel the love, hug a tree

Worldwide recession, poverty, war

Mankind the plague rapes the landscape, what for?

Greed fuels the rat race and peace shall not be

Giving oxygen, beauty and shelter, the trees

As we cut down the forests, wreaking havoc for cash

Religion betrayed by cold hearts in a flash

Mankind hell bent on destruction, yet she,

Mother earth shall eternally breathe through her trees

Mother Earth hold me, fill my head and my heart

Perspective to teach, new outlook, fresh start

The beauty and love that lays deep down in me

Set free in these magical moments with trees

Simplicity bathe me, karma deep down

My balance restored and normality found

Some will laugh at my actions, point their fingers at me

The last laugh is mine in my time spent with trees

When this life is a prison and your mind is a cell

Seek solace and comfort, release, break the spell

Find peace and tranquillity, there you will be

Contented and cleansed, go ahead, hug a tree

Photograph taken at 15:47pm on Friday July 26th 2013 off Fairview Lane at The High Rocks, in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England.

High Rocks is a 3.2 hectare (7.9 acre) geological Special site of scientific interest, in East Sussex, England. The site was notified in 1986 under the Wildlife and Countryside act 1981 and is an important geomorphological site for sandstone weathering features

I have always loved trees, forests and woodlands and love to spend time photpgraphing their beauty. I am also partial to a bit of tree hugging to cleanse my soul. Go on, let a tree into your life once in a while, you'll feel all the better for it....

Day two of handing invitations. Although we went to many places, I’m too shy to take photos so, instead, here’s a photo of me petting a blossomed tree.

Trees are never too small to be hugged. In this photo, Grace is bestowing her love and warmth on my little Lord Lambourne apple tree, just coming up to two years old

"Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth."

-- Herman Hesse

I took a chance of looking crazier than I already looked. People were driving by wondering what I was doing out in the middle of the road, late at night. To make it worse, I decided to add more trash(myself) to the picture; so I waited for the cars to stop coming, set the timer, ran to my spot, laid down, and prayed no one was coming. I think it would be a bit too hard to describe to the people of Washington's suburbs.

Tree hugging in Flagstaff, June 5

A quick selfie in my natural habitat, on a hike :).

Though this image looks simple, I am extremely proud of it. This is the first time i ever stitched together photos on my own and didn't use some program to do it for me. I had to piece together three images.

I've missed photography.

so...it was quite late when i was finally home and ready to take my tree hugger picture. i got all set up and was about to hug the tree (and take a bite out of the apple from the tree) when i saw...

A

HUGE

FRICKIN'

SPIDER

staring at me...challenging me. it won. i lost.

and no, despite my pose, i do not have to pee here.

I sat down on a beach, but after a little while this bird showed up, seeming kind of angry with me, and eventually settled down adorably in a little nest that I hadn't even seen. :D I just took a few quick pics... <:B ... and moved the hell away from there. ^_^

I posted this in the Treehugger group and later found that the pic had been featured on Treehugger's site!

“Doing more with less” -- a Buckminster Fuller ideology in a situation when there is no “more”. No fabrication lab, no CNC mill, no … – only an idea to provide a back drop for an event made feasible through the use of a diagram, a plotter, sharpies, 4 mil vapor barrier, tape, a leaf blower, and time. 36 unique two-dimensional surfaces are hand cut in 4 mil vapor barrier, individually taped into continuous loops, and joined edge to edge on 35 seams accounting for 10,357 linear feet of packaging tape. A flattening of the relationship between representation and actualization through exploitation of design process and fabrication achieves a 1:1 space approachable in the context of a three-week vertical seminar assignment. A torus was selected for its ability to define a closed loop of inside | outside space with a singularly curved membrane that turns doubly curved through the simple process of inflation. A focus on the production of a temporary and mobile space for a particular event-based experience calibrates material selection, precision, and construction. Siting provokes arches, drops, lifts, compressions, and expansions as edits resulting in various modes of access between the outer and inner | outer spaces of the inflatable turned architectural trope capable of making a scene.
