Part of the shot from my recent trip to Yosemite NP to hunt for the firefall. This shot is on my must do list because I skunked my first attempt few months ago for not carrying a tripod to make the shot.
Initially I discovered this spot while driving along Northside Drive to reach Valley View, the leading line of the dead tree captured me as it's pointing towards Sentinel Dome.
I felt like the tree is trying to say :"follow my lead, for you will find what you seek!"

Three days to go ... before Christmas!
Christmas celebration will never be complete without a ... Christmas tree! Captured intentionally in off-focus to bring out its bokeh lights, this 30-ft plus attraction can be seen in San Malu (downtown area of Macau).

I was outside on a cold morning when I saw a red bellied woodpecker eating at the ice on a tree. Captured a picture and thought it looked kinda funny
Solitary tree captured against a hazy sky at sunset. The sparse clouds fall over a gradient ranging from violet to blue.

17 October
Gold light filtering
Between white birches standing
Tall and resolute;
Shadows beneath pines
In a thick shroud of darkness,
Discomfort found here;
Cold frost creeps over
The hood of your faithful car,
Unwelcome seasons;
Gold light shines on us,
Stood together among trees:
Captured adventure.
Manistee adventure with this one today. Involved a long drive, good talks, gruesomely destroyed birds, antiques, Lake Michigan bluffs, birch trees, golden leaves, wind-tousled hair and our Martian friend Mark Watney. I'd say it was a day well spent.

As I was driving towards the Welcome centre of Monument Valley, I stopped the car on the road, lowered the windsheild and took this shot. Somehow, the lone tree captured my attention. The day was really bright.

You can never win the competition on this world, it will always come someone Greater than you.
This is the worlds tallest building right now, but already they are building a skyscraper that will be even higher, closer to 1,000 m (3,281 ft)
Focus on what makes you happy and do not compete with other people over worldly things. Look instead at those who have it worse than you and thank God for what you have. Peace

Holly tree captured on the UNCW campus in Wilmington, NC. American Holly (Ilax opaca) is found in southeastern US.
Holly trees are examples of understory trees as they grow under larger trees. These trees contain berries that are sources of food for birds and small mammals. The flowers these plants produce are pollinated by insects, such as bees and ants. These plants are also habitats for many species, such as birds that build their nests among these plants. The leaves of these plants are dark green in color and prickly, which may be a defense for them against herbivory. By looking closely, it can be seen that some of the leaves have missing pieces to them perhaps due to herbivorous animals. www.arborday.org/trees/treeguide/treedetail.cfm?itemID=1071
A couple days off work and a very unusual warm end to September, it feels more like summer than autumn, but we will not be complaining! We went out looking for Autumn leaves and a lot of them are to be described as moth eaten, but autumn is still starting so hopefully they will produce more colour perfection over the next few weeks.
The Boston Ivy leaves are growing against a side wall of a shop, they lose their brilliance quite quickly once they drop or are picked so need to be used straight away. The colours remind me of a wedding, whites and pinks, lovely. Hung from a tree capturing the afternoon sunlight they show their wonderful delicate colours.
- A lens flare from a sun star amongst the trees captured on a bright and sunny day over #10YearsAgo.
A busy night at the mall, judging by the traffic in the background. A more traditional view of the tree captured in www.flickr.com/photos/31599474@N04/6449788757/. And all of the "lights" you see in the tree are actually reflections of the surrounding street lights reflected in the big baubles decorating the tree.
You know, the selective colorization thing is kinda like coloring for adults.
And the baubles at the forefront come in Red, Green, AND Blue; especially since we're in Beachwood. Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish friends!

itsbernie81: Splendid
It had been raining with thunderbooms all afternoon, but things finally cleared up enough after work to go biking on the El Rio Trail. To the left was the storm system that had passed overhead, heading east out to sea. There were intermittent flashes of lightning, along with a jet taking off from the airport and the steady buzz of cicadas in the trees, capturing the sound of a humid summer evening :) At -0:14 is the sound of a Moorhen behind me in the canal.
Any unsteadiness with the camera was due to balancing on my bike while trying to ignore all the little biting bugs up and down my arms and legs as I stubbornly held tight, trying to record. !!
