This shot was taken @ forty minutes prior to the previous post The sun was rising over my right shoulder which was catching both the tree, the low clouds and the mist, reflecting some stunning colours. For added atmosphere there was a frost providing the white flecks on the grass.

Am 30. September 2017 brachten 1142.608 und 1116.056 den leeren Erzzug LGAG 58665 nach Eisenerz. Dieser Zug verkehrt täglich und bekommt ab Selzthal zumeist einen "altwertigen" Vorspann für die Fahrt durch das Gesäuse. Bei Frauenberg im Ennstal konnte ich diese Leistung aufnehmen. Im Bildhintergrund die eindrucksvolle Warscheneckgruppe, am rechten Bildrand verbirgt sich die Wallfahrtskirche von Frauenberg hinter den Bäumen. Nettes Detail am Rande ist der kleine Smiley auf der Lokfront der 1142.
At September 30th 2017 ÖBB's 1142.608 and 1116.056 hauled empty freight train LGAG 58665 to Eisenerz. This train commutes on daily basis and gets most of the time an older engine in front to support the Taurus for its journey through the so-called Gesäuse. I took this picture near Frauenberg, in the background you can see the impressive mountain chain called Warscheneckgruppe. On the right side the church of Frauenberg hides behind the trees. Nice detail is the little smiley on the front of the class 1142 engine.

Chi si ricorda della festa degli alberi?... Ricordo che da bambino aspettavo trepidante che quel giorno arrivasse per andare alla pineta ad ammirare gli alberi e ne piantavamo di nuovi, infine facevamo una gustosa merenda prima di fare ritorno a scuola... che nostalgia di quei tempi passati...
Downtown Granby, Vermont was bustling with activity when I took this photo. The three buildings shown are a chapel/church, a Post Office, and the Town Clerk's office. There also is a schoolhouse just beyond the bend in the road. The town was chartered in 1761, had a population of 52 in 1970, and exploded to 84 as of the 2017 census. Granby was the last of two towns in Vermont to be hooked up to the electric grid, which occurred in 1963.
I saw only one car in the half hour I was at this location. They smiled and waved as they passed. Most of the residents in these small rural towns throughout Vermont and New Hampshire are very friendly. However, that may not be the case in the bordering town of Victory, which I drove through to get to Granby. Victory has a population of 62 as of the last census, and is known for its decades long "Hatfield versus McCoy" type feuds, keeping the local county sheriff busy. Just Google "Victory Vermont feud" for details. Maybe they are friendly to outsiders like me though. I don't know, as I saw no one at all in my drive through Victory. I suspect they may be afraid to go outside. By the way, Victory was the second of the last two towns in Vermont to be hooked up to the electric grid.
This scene looked to me like it was out of the 1800's. Even the main road through town is unpaved. So I thought it was appropriate for a black and white photo.

not sure of the story behind this one, was driving near city hall and saw this tree had been outfitted with a genuine knit sweater. knitting it is one thing but mounting the sweater on the branches had to be quite a task.

Tree Cozy by Carol Hummel
Hummel has crocheted a cozy for a tree in front of Cleveland Heights City Hall at Severance Town Centre. It is made of brightly colored nylon and synthetic material that will weather the Northern Ohio climate for the two-year term of the exhibition without impeding the growth of the tree or harming wildlife.
For the past two years, Hummel has been working with crocheted yarn as a metaphorical sculptural material. This project involves covering a tree-a natural object representing masculinity and strength-with a cozy-an emphatically handmade blanket representing femininity and comfort.
Scale, color, and material are utilized to create a sculpture that is experienced physically while opening the door for psychological, emotional, and/or intellectual contemplation. It can be interpreted on a variety of levels.
On the most obvious level, it is a piece of clothing, personifying the tree and keeping it cozy and colorful throughout the year, enhancing the beauty of nature as well as the landscape of Northern Ohio.
On another level, the brightly colored crocheted cozy wraps the tree in personal and cultural nostalgia evoking memories of bygone times and places when life was good.
On yet another level, the cozy softens the strong tree form while also emphasizing it. It is meant to simultaneously caress and encase the tree. The cozy covering the tree fluctuates between comforting blanket and suffocating cover-up; it conceals as much as it protects; it hides as much as it reveals.
Hummel, who obtained her MFA in sculpture in 2004 from Kent State University, has an eclectic background educationally and professionally as a photographer, journalist, editor, and owner of a construction company.

When the sun gets drops behind the mountains, the feel and focus of an area seems to change quickly. As the valley begins to fill with shade, the wonderful golden light and bright blue hues give way to more muted colours, creating the opportunity to direct the viewers attention. Sometimes the mountains create a spotlight for you to play with. Or, well, that's the theory.
On the other hand, I just really love those blue green tones and back lit trees.

How is it even possible for such a nice forest to have zero caps? Wll, the stride is nice, but to come home emptyhanded is just pitiful.
