TOKYO: December 01 - A view of electric tram plying in the city. The first electric tram was introduced in 1890 and now running under the Tokyo Shiden (Tokyo Municipal Electric Railway). Electric tramways remained the most popular form of public transportation throughout the city until the 1960s when the city's subway system was built. In 1961, the peak of tram activity in Tokyo, there were over 40 working lines. Now there is just one, the Toden Arakawa Line. APP photo by Jahangir Khan
