On the road to Channan Pir Festival, Yazman, Bahawalpur

Talented Gnaoua musicians and singers in Khamlia a village in eastern Morocco on the edge of the Sahara desert. These musical families start to train their youngsters to play traditional instruments when they are very young. The little boy in the picture had been performing with this group for a year, he was only allowed to perform the easier numbers and routines.

Young kingfisher enjoying a rare sunny break.

This little fella was yet to become an accomplished fisher. Having successfully caught a fish he promptly dropped it. Oh well there will always be another chance.

A conducter trainee appears to be intently listening to the railroad man he is learning for back in May 2012. They are looking down Shop Road in Columbia, Souoth Carolina while their remote controlled locomotive is in the background.A third man on tthe crew is handling the hands on aspect of railroading on this day.

I've been trying to get my fiancee into photography, a trip to Temple Newsam provided the ideal opportunity.

After I had taken this photo, I asked what she was doing. She said "I was checking if they were real gems"

I don't know HOW she DID.😊

I was headed to Fareway to pick up supplies for dinner when I heard a 2-260 clearing a warrant into Ottumwa. I grabbed some inbound shots and it wasn't long after that the outbound got authority to continue south. I heard the dispatcher verify that they could fit into the siding at Blakesburg, so I thought that I'd grab a shot at 305, go to Fareway, and see what the northbound was after that. I decided to just chase it when I heard the familiar name of the trainee conductor. Despite standing 2' deep into an 8' drift and not feeling my toes and ankles for about a half an hour after the shot, I'm glad I ran down for it.

A conductor trainee (he's wearing an orange vest) on CSX rides the front of a locomotive making a switch move in Cayce, South Carolina. The conductor, who is out of sight in this photograph, was very methodical with this young man. He let him throw the switches in the yard and made sure he know to look at the rails and make sure the tracks were lined up the right way before he allowed the train to pass over them.

Taken at a Cultural Centre on the island of Bali, the children really captured the hearts of the people that saw them perform.

The Balinese people are very warm and welcoming.

Very friendly kitten always comes to greet us.

Back on shed at 17.00 with Stanier 8F 2-8-0 48305 & it was getting dark. I had prepped the loco and run two trips in the morning when the relief fireman asked if I could take his afternoon turn too. Being young and foolish I agreed!

I fired the first trip but let Andrew the trainee take the last one (I wasn't knackered, honest!) He did very well & here he is coming down from the cab after offering to dispose. After almost 12 hours in action I was happy to leave him and Pete to it... That's my bag, shovel & mash can on the ground ready for a quick getaway.

I shot the moment as the young man was washing clothes in a small engine boat at Sadar Ghat river port.

We were visited by the mother Roe Deer and her 2 fawns today. It was fun to see but also easy to understand why they look so healthy when you witness how quickly they can munch through garden plants, especially the Raspberries.

The trainee of CN's Squamish turn has been tasked with connecting the cars they were told to pick up from storage at Brunswick siding. These cars have been in storage for a while and catching the train tasked to enter the barely used siding and pick these cars up was very cool. Sort of. About an hour and a half into their work train reporting told them to stop what they were doing, put the cars back in the siding the way they were originally, and continue heading north to Squamish. A mistake by CN led to a pretty unique photographic opportunity, thanks to the crew for being ok with me getting up and close as the North siding switch at Brunswick isn't very accessible without trespassing. Made sure to get out of there before train reporting dropped the bad news.

Here's the taxi rank, and one goose cab is off to a green area. The others gradually follow, reforming each time into another taxi...

It's easier, especially in strong winds for the geese to fly together. Even over a short distance, it's possible to see some geese drop back a bit as others come to the front. I don't know if anybody gets any tips!

According to a news report I once saw, some athletic trainers have urged their trainees to watch how geese work together to achieve their amazing flights.

Once upon a time at Mannington Mills (Salem, New Jersey)

The Southern Railway Company of New Jersey had the F7A 727 on the point of the freight to Swedesboro. Prior to chaising the train I spent the time with engineer John Rieck and his trainee conductor on the GP9 100, spotting and picking up cars at Anchor Glass.

What do you guys think?

When green herons are out in the open and feel stress they often raise their crests and flick their tails. I watched this guy for nearly twenty minutes as he kept trying and failing to grab his prey. After at least six failed attempts his stress and frustration were becoming apparent as the crest went up and the tail began flicking violently. He finally gave up and flew across the lake.
