At Trader Joe's on saturday; they were only allowing 50 people inside at a time, so there was a nice long line outside as we waited -- 6+ feet apart -- to be allowed in.
The area around Albany just north of Auckland was named Lucas Creek in 1845 after Daniel Lucas, a flax trader. The flax was shipped by boat from a small wharf in the tidal creek to Auckland. During the 1840s Lucas bought land stretching west from the creek to Riverhead. He abandoned his land in 1846 apparently leaving New Zealand. The area was renamed Albany in 1890.
