These are the same traders who had just struck a deal ; the man on the right looks much more jovial, maybe is it his nature or did he think that he had obtained a good price ?
Most of these photos will disappear later on further down my stream - but I feel this urge to tell what I witnessed : more photos to come yet from this big animal bazaar on the banks of the Tigris river near Diyarbakır - sorry if all this is too descriptive !

Hyde Indoor Market Art Project
Artists Richard 'arbarus' Dawson and Jacqui Symons were commissioned by TMBC to work with people in Hyde produce a unique and unusual artwork to promote the many stalls hidden within the Aladdin’s Cave of the Hyde Indoor Market.
The project was aimed at engaging the local community and market tenants directly in the creative process of designing and creating the artwork to give the final piece real meaning to Hyde Market and a true sense of ownership to those involved.
The start of the project focused on collaboration with market tenants to develop a concept for the artwork and resulted in the idea of 3D lettering artwork signage. This developed into using the letters to represent and promote the amazing range of unique wares and services available within the market.
Once the 3D letter design was finalized Richard and Jacqui ran a series of creative workshops at community events and with local groups including HCA and Bennett Street Youth Centre to create artwork to embellish the letters.
These sessions included mosaic, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture to create parts of the letters.
Tameside Local Studies and Archive Centre, The Tripe Marketing Board and United Cattle Products all got involved supplying fascinating heritage photos of Hyde, it’s historical shops and traders that decorate the letter K. (There were too many to include them all but a visit to Tameside Local studies Centre is well worth while to see more….)
After the community sessions the letters were made at that artist’s studio workshop at Woodend Mill in Mossley and completed by the addition of the artwork elements.

On Saturday, Carl and I decided to drive from Lake Jackson to Houston and find my high school friend, Mike Baxter, at Traders' Village. We took highway 288 north toward Houston. It was interesting to see the landscape.
The self-unloading barge 'Great Lakes Trader' with the articulated tug 'Joyce L. Van Enkevort' while unloading Limestone in Lorain, Ohio. Combined length of barge and tug is 844 ft. 10 inches, making it the 16th largest vessel on the Great Lakes.
With a depth of 45 ft., a beam of 78 ft, and a length of 760 ft. - the 'Great Lakes Trader' is capable of carrying 39,600 tons of cargo.

South Seas Traders is Pacific Oceanic and costal themed, sandwich between Adventureland Bazaar and Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost. It carries essentially the same things as the Adventureland Bazaar, so moving on!

Trader's Cabin at Old Cowtown Museum. Built c.1865 and was located on the Chisholm Trail near Clearwater Kansas. This cabin accepted skins from area hunters and traded various merchandise with Native American tribes. Donated to Cowtown in 1969.
