Trader Joe's is one of San Mateo's specialty grocery stores and is located at 1820 South Grant Street. They carry a lot of different food products at bargain prices. The inside of their stores have a neighborhood grocer feel because they are usually fairly small. And, like most Mom and Pop shops, they have great service. They tend to shy away from any name brand merchandise and carry a lot of their own brands. Stop in there next time you're in San Mateo. You can also try their location across from Hillsdale Mall.

I would recommend this hotel any day - it was clean and comfortable - and very close to two major places of interest - Orchard Road and the Botanical Gardens. Everywhere else was easily accessible by public transport, or walking.
Inside was this life size replica of Trader Jon. It was a tradition to try and catch him wearing matching socks.

This was our second visit to Trader Sam's, a Hawaiian-themed tiki bar. From my conversation with the bartender, it's a welcome refuge for many parents when they get their kids to have an afternoon nap.
