... at Old City Hall rises 103 metres (340 ft) at the corner of Queen and Bay Streets in Toronto, directly opposite the new(er) City Hall. It may have taken 10 years to build, but Old City Hall finally opened its doors in 1899. Today it's home to the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice which try cases ranging from minor provincial offences to serious criminal charges under the sharp eyed gaze of four gargoyles atop the tower.

The Post Tower is the headquarters of the logistic company Deutsche Post DHL. It is a 162.5-metre, 41-storey office building in Bonn, Germany. It was designed by German-American architect Helmut Jahn and won the 2002 Silver Emporis Skyscraper Award.
It is the ninth tallest skyscraper in Germany, and the tallest in Germany outside of Frankfurt am Main.
Broadway Tower is a folly on Broadway Hill, near the village of Broadway, in the English county of Worcestershire, at the second-highest point of the Cotswolds. Broadway Tower's base is 1,024 feet above sea level.

The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel, nickname La dame de fer, the iron lady) is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named for its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. Upon its completion, it surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930; however, due to the addition in 1957 of the antenna, the tower is now taller than the Chrysler Building. Not including broadcast antennas, it is the second-tallest structure in France after the 2004 Millau Viaduct.
The tower has three levels for visitors. Tickets can be purchased to ascend, by stairs or lift, to the first and second levels. The walk to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.

Almas Tower (Arabic: برج الماس Diamond Tower) is a 68-storey,360 m (1,180 ft), supertall skyscraper in the Jumeirah Lake Towers Free Zone of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Construction of the office building began in early 2005 and was completed in 2009 with the installation of some remaining cladding panels at the top of the tower. The building was topped out in 2008, and became the tallest building in Dubai until 2010 when it was surpassed by Burj Khalifa

Gardoš Tower (Serbian: Кула на Гардошу) or Millennium Tower, (Serbian: Миленијумска кула) and also known as Kula Sibinjanin Janka (English: The Tower of Janos Hunyadi Serbian: Кула Сибињанин Јанка) is a memorial tower located in Zemun, Serbia. It was built and officially opened on August 20, 1896 to celebrate a thousand years of Hungarian settlement in the Pannonian plain.
As part of Old Town core of Zemun, and also located in the middle of the Zemun Fortress, tower is protected both as Spatial Cultural-Historical Unit of Great Importance, and as a Protected Monument of Culture.
Tower Bridge (built 1886–1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London which crosses the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name, and has become an iconic symbol of London.
The bridge consists of two towers tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical component of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower.

ten thirty and managed to rattle off a few shots before frostbite set in.

A few weeks back we returned from a short break in Cape Verde, and what a pleasant break it was… the sand was soft and golden, the sea was crystal clear and blue although it was really rough with some impressive waves so there was a red flag every day.
We were in a remote part of Boa Vista there wasn’t anything around for miles not even a shop and while there wasn’t much to take pictures of during the day at night the Milky Way came out to play. Living in the Home Counties for all of my life means that I’ve never seen the Milky Way before, so I was rather excited when I went down to the beach on the first night, I’d never seen so many stars ☺
The two problems with taking a picture of it were that there wasn’t anything to place in the foreground apart from the lifeguards tower and the other being that the first five nights the sky was rather cloudy, however the on last two nights the conditions seemed perfect; I simply laid back on a sun lounger and watched the night sky while my camera did the work ☺
Anyway this is the end result, it’s not the best Milky Way picture that you’ll see but I’m pretty happy with it for a first effort and it’s definitely made me want to have another go at shooting it, in fact the first thing that I did when I got home was to have a look at a dark sky map of the UK!
So September is nearly upon us, I can’t believe how quickly this last month has gone, I haven’t done any photography for weeks now; however I do have little trip planned in a couple of weeks and open house is around the corner so I’m looking forward to September!

Senneck is the eldest of a trio of brothers who live in the enchanted forests of Avalonia. Senneck is by far the wisest, and uses magic very seldom, mostly for helping the sick, and can often be found writing at the top of his tower. The locals come to him for guidance and wisdom, as he would appear to be the most qualified person around to give it...

this has officially been the most busy week of my life. a few months ago I registered to go to the auckland brickshow this weekend, not realising that my entire years folio for graphics and painting were due TODAY. the same day I have to have an exhibit built and fly to Auckland, so it's been... hectic, lets leave it at that. Personally I am happy with the tower top, and the tree itself, but I don't think they work as well together as they could, hence i will be building another tree moc, and another tower moc in due time :p I didn't like the stonework but with the amount of time I had I just left it be. anyhow hope you enjoy it, this will be at the Auckland lego show this weekend, and once again, more upcoming mocs on the way ;)
Now to pack for my flight in a few hours...
ALSO ITS MODULAR! fits in a suitcase :p

Buildings of the old flax factory (from the end of 19-th century) in my hometown. Now here are some shops, various companies and apartments :)
Żyrardów - small town in Central Poland, located in the Mazovia region. It owes its unique atmosphere to the characteristic architecture of an industrial town. The original spatial layout of the community, which grew around a manufacturing plant in the mid-19th century, has been preserved to the present day. The historic center of Żyrardów (mostly buildings from red bricks) is the only industrial architecture complex from the turn of the 20th c. in Europe that has been preserved to modern times in full. The old settlement covers a 76-ha area in the central part of the town. Diversified architectural forms and styles characterize the city, which has resulted from the multi-cultural character of Żyrardów. The flax trade gave the town its origins. A plant manufacturing flax that was one of the largest and modern factories in Europe was established there in 1829. Karol Dittrich and Karol Hielle, two industrialists from Germany, founded the plant. The town derives its name from the first technical director of the plant, Philip de Girard who, among others, invented a mechanical flax-spinning machine.

Żyrardów leży w centrum Polski, na Mazowszu. Swój niepowtarzalny klimat zawdzięcza charakterystycznej architekturze miasta zaprojektowanej w połowie XIX stulecia. Zabytkowe centrum Żyrardowa jest jedynym w Europie zachowanym w całości zespołem urbanistyczno-architektonicznym miasta przemysłowego przełomu XIX i XX wieku. Osada fabryczna obejmuje centralną część miasta o powierzchni ok. 76 ha. Charakteryzuje ją różnorodność form architektonicznych i stylów, co wynika ze zróżnicowania narodowościowego mieszkańców Żyrardowa. Początek miastu dała fabryka lniarska, która powstała na terenie dzisiejszego Żyrardowa w 1829 roku. Była to jedna z największych i najnowocześniejszych fabryk ówczesnej Europy. Została założona przez dwóch przemysłowców z Niemiec: Karola Dittricha i Karola Hielle. Żyrardów zawdzięcza swą nazwę pierwszemu dyrektorowi technicznemu fabryki, Philipowi de Girard. Był on m.in. wynalazcą maszyny do mechanicznego przędzenia lnu.
